I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a safety-related recall (H514/H536) issued by Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC for my 2019 Jaguar I-PACE. While Jaguar acknowledged the defect and offered a vehicle repurchase, I believe their resolution places an unfair financial burden on me, the consumer, despite the defect being entirely manufacturer-related. Jaguar has offered me a “Statutory Refund” of $31,987.25, while my vehicle loan payoff is $44,060.98—leaving me responsible for $12,073.73 out of pocket. I find this unacceptable given that the defect is not due to misuse or wear but rather a confirmed manufacturer issue under NHTSA Safety Recall H514/H536. This situation has created significant financial stress and emotional strain. I have not been negligent or abusive with the vehicle. I am simply a consumer seeking safe and fair resolution. It seems inappropriate that I should be penalized for Jaguar’s faulty product by being left in debt on a car I can no longer safely use. I respectfully request that NHTSA: •Review Jaguar’s handling of this recall and repurchase process •Investigate whether other owners are receiving similarly inadequate offers •Provide guidance on how consumers like me can be protected from incurring thousands in losses due to a confirmed manufacturer safety defect Thank you for your time and advocacy on behalf of consumer safety and fairness. I am available to provide additional documents, including Jaguar’s repurchase letter, at your request.

We received a letter from Jaguar on 3/5/25 that our car has a fatal battery flaw that cannot be repaired which will necessitate a repurchase of the car. The flaw could result in a fire started by the battery. 7 weeks later and we have not been contacted by anyone from the third party group to start the process of the buyback of our recalled car. We proactively called the third party who confirmed they have our correct contact information. This concerns us greatly regarding the safety of our own property and our neighbors property since we live in a high risk wildfire district in Colorado. Every day that goes by is a day of worry that this car could put our family, neighbors and community at risk. Note: We did perform the prior recall repair (24V-633 or H514) which gates the charge to 80%. But that obviously isn’t the full solution since they are saying now it won’t overcome the underlying battery risk.

I bring to your attention the inappropriate handling of the 2019 IPACE buybacks by Jaguar Land Rover North America, JLR. I own a 2019 IPACE purchased new from Jaguar Fort Lauderdale. In Oct 2024 and Feb 2025, JLR abandoned its attempts to repair the defective batteries of these cars and filed recall notices H514 and H536 with the NHTSA. JLR offered to buy back all 2019 IPACE vehicles as a definitive solution to the battery safety issue. JLR has made take-it-or-leave-it offers based on the 10/24 Kelly Blue Book values to repurchase the cars. I consider the date and the KBB value to be irrelevant to the 2019 Jaguar IPACE issue. On March 6, 2025, JLR offered me 29% of the original purchase price to repurchase my vehicle. I did not accept the low offer because, under consumer protection and warranty laws, the car should be repurchased at its original value minus a mileage deduction. My car has 40,000 miles on it, which is well within the 100,000-mile or 8-year warranty period for the battery. The KBB value reflects the dramatic drop in the market price of my vehicle in the used car market, resulting from JLR's inability to fix the batteries. Using the KBB value unfairly penalizes me for JRL’s manufacturing errors and failure to correct faulty equipment. If the car’s battery were working, the car would be worth more. I requested that JLR adhere to its Dispute Resolution Manual, which offers a resolution to warranty disputes through the Better Business Bureau Autoline Program. Despite its contractual promise, JLR refused to participate in the BBB process. As a result of JLR’s warnings, I understand that I have a potentially unsafe vehicle parked outside my garage. I am faced with the prospect of driving a car that poses significant safety issues or accepting a low offer that does not allow me to buy an equivalent vehicle. I respectfully request that the NHTSA consider asking JLR to fulfill its obligation to address the buy-back value or accept mediation or arbitration.

The vehicle has experienced the Traction Battery Fault three times, which is the warning signal provided when there is a main battery fault situation. During the latest incident, the warning appeared and shortly afterward the vehicle emitted white smoke with an electrical odor and crackling from the front undercarriage. Emergency services were contacted through 911, and firefighters disconnected the 12V battery to stabilize the vehicle. Two previous traction-battery-related repair attempts were performed by Jaguar, and a third repair is currently underway. The repeated failure of the high-voltage traction battery system represents a potential fire risk and electrical hazard. I am reporting this incident to ensure NHTSA is aware of this high-voltage safety defect.

Car recalled with buy back remedy under 24V-633 and H514 recalls. Timely resolution has not been provided as it has been over 5 months since the H514 recall and it is not reasonable to expect a customer to park and charge outside while limiting charge to 80%. The hazard has not been mitigated with no attempt by Jaguar to contact us to buy back the car in the past 5 months (told we'd be contacted within the next few weeks in December 2024). Attempted to contact JLR customer service relationship center on 4/7/25 with high call wait time.

No communication or attempt since November 6, 2024 from JLR to resolve NHTSA Recall Number 24V633000 which is noted as a fire/safety risk re: high voltage batteries. Repurchase noted as final remedy. JLR outsourced call center provided "in a couple of weeks" eta when contacted on 3/12/2025. Vehicle charge capacity limited to 80% by JLR, significantly impacts utility of vehicle in addition to safety risk.
Mar 12, 2025
My vehicle was recalled due to safety issues relating to the potential for the high voltage battery to catch fire(Recall H514- 24V633000). The interim fix was to reduce the capability of the vehicle to 80% charge, which negated the need to park away from structures. This was completed by my dealer in Nov 2024. The final fix for this issue was for the vehicle to be repurchased "As quickly as possible". A new recall was announced in February 2025 (H536-24V-633. In this recall the following statement is very worrying "Owners who have previously had their vehicle updated with the improved diagnostic software are under the impression that their vehicle is protected from thermal overload which, for 2019 model year vehicles may not be the case." . I do not believe based on that statement that my vehicle is safe. I have not heard anything from Jaguar since Nov 6th 2024 and although I have called and emailed them they say you will hear something in the next couple of weeks, now 3 months later I am no nearer the promised repurchase and I have a potentially unsafe vehicle parked in my garage.
Feb 13, 2025
My 2019 First Edition I-Pace is subject to Jaguar recall H514, as per both the NHTSA and Jaguar web sites the solution is to repurchase the vehicle from me AFTER decreasing my max charge to 80% significantly reducing my available range, to the point I cannot rely on the vehicle for trips I was able to complete with no issue prior to the reduction in max charge. I have called Jaguar multiple times, as well as sending them email requesting status, in every contact the response from Jaguar has been as follows: "Customers affected by the H514 recall will be contacted in the coming weeks by a specialized team dedicated to handling this process. This team will provide detailed information and discuss available options for your vehicle." My last communication from Jaguar was Jan 6th. It is now two plus weeks post the last email, and still no contact from Jaguar, while driving a car that does not meet the specifications as stated by Jaguar when I bought the car. At this point it appears that Jaguar is purposely dragging their feet to induce owners to take the drastic action of trying to trade their car in on something different, when it is well known the cars are effectively non sellable due to the battery issues. Again, reading numerous owner forums some owners have just given up and are buying a replacement vehicle and dealing on their own trying to dispose of their 2019 I-Pace. My understanding is that once it was determined that repurchase was the only recourse that the NHTSA has an expectation of timely response from Jaguar to owners on completing this unfortunate process. Clearly, just from my own experience, this has not been an expedited process. I am hopeful that NHTSA can provide some leverage with Jaguar to actually execute on this process in a good faith and a timely manner. Owners purchased these vehicles in good faith, and expect good faith response by Jaguar to a problem not created by the owners. Thank you

Vehicle began flashing Traction Battery Warnings along with warnings to stop driving car. I had been parking car outside for two years since notification from JLR to keep car outside and away from structures. Set up appointment for next day to have car towed to dealership, and asked them to attempt the latest software upgrade, understanding that it would not solve problem, but might make the car safe to drive. That same day, received buyback letter from JLR. Called dealer, told them to just try the update, nothing else. They asked me to pay $325 to inspect car. I refused and stated I was calling Morley as indicated in received letter. Called Morley, gave them information and followed up in email with all requested documentation. Morley advised me to keep the car at the dealership as they would be handling the buyback. Informed dealership that that was the plan. A few days later, Morley indicated that they would be settling the case by paying my KBB value, despite the fact that I am in California. I hired an attorney, who contacted Morley. We heard nothing for several weeks, during which time the dealership contacted me and insist I remove my car as they had heard nothing from Morley in the prior 30 days. The dealership tried to have me pay for services I did not authorize, and had taken apart and removed the windshield wiper and grill and interior covers under hood and had not reinstalled, nor were they in the car. The car was left on their lot, which an acknowledged rodent problem, for 30 days. Morley then insisted that the attorney work directly with JLR NA. Attorney sent demand to them on April 26 , but one month later w have heard nothing. The car does not drive, and is stored outside on my driveway. 60 days in, and we have no contact from JLR, let alone a satisfactory resolution.

Fire danger for years in my 2019 jaguar ipace. Unable to solve. Resolution is finally to buy vehicle back, no action 4 months now waiting for action. In addition to 13 months in the shop. This is not prompt as they claim and it continues to be used on public roads, carrying passengers, parking and chaging in congested areas including next to hospitals due to the inaction. Someone needs to force forward motion before someone gets hurt.

With respect to this recall: Nov 18,2024 Manufacturer Recall NumberH536 NHTSA Recall Number24V-633 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Remedy As a final remedy, JLR will reacquire vehicles from affected customers. JLR has not reached out to me on the next steps and I'm driving around with a vehicle with a known risk including thermal overload. JLR shouldn't have an indefinite timeline to execute the final remedy, reacquire of vehicle. I submitted a reacquire request to JLR customer service in Nov. 2024, but have yet to hear back from JLR after 3 months.

All 2019 Jaguar I-Pace's were subject to numerous recalls due to battery issues for fire risk. The latest recall limited range and battery to 80% and its stated that ALL 2019 would be bought back. It has been months and Jaguar has yet to offer any recourse. I have called and emailed and keep getting told a specialised team would be contacting me in 2 weeks. Its been 3 Months and they same thing is being said. My vehicle is a fire hazard so I am constantly in fear that it will catch fire in my drive way (cannot park in garage per instructions) and potentially catch house on fire. Furthermore, we cannot functionally use car as intended as the range is severely limited. I would like to have Jaguar move forward swiftly with the buyback, as from what I can ascertain they will use KBB valuation but since the notification of buyback the value of I-Paces has precipitously fallen as they drag their feet. I have attached the notification on Jaguar's Recall portal with the following language: Repair Description As referenced in the previous letter, your vehicle will, as an interimcondition, have the maximum state of charge altered to 80%. This will protect your vehicle until the re-purchase is complete. The maximum driving range of your vehicle will be reduced accordingly. There will be no charge to owners for this repair.Separately, Jaguar will reach out to you and seek to work with you to arrange the re-purchase of your vehicle, with the aim of completing this as quickly as possible.

In connection with Recall H514, my 2019 Jaguar I-Pace (SADHD2S16K1 F76172) had a battery fire risk that led Jaguar to issue a software update. Without prior notice, the update permanently disabled full battery function by capping the vehicle’s charge at 80%, significantly reducing range and usability. The update was irreversible and materially changed the safety and performance of the electric vehicle. After being forced to seek a replacement, I purchased a 2020 Jaguar I-Pace (SADHD2S17L1F81804). During transport of the 2020 vehicle home, it exhibited an “Electrical Battery Fault” warning, raising serious concerns about the continued reliability and safety of Jaguar’s battery systems even after the recall. This ongoing pattern of battery issues places consumers at risk of fire, vehicle immobilization, or loss of propulsion. Jaguar’s recall remedy has proven ineffective at fully addressing the underlying electrical and propulsion safety issues.
Apr 28, 2025
Jaguar Land Rover North America (JLR) continues to neglect its federal recall obligations for the 2019 I-PACE under recalls H441, H514, and H536, exposing owners to serious fire risks. Despite multiple recall efforts, thermal overload incidents persist, proving JLR’s interim remedies—software updates and charging restrictions—are ineffective. JLR admits in its notices that affected vehicles remain unsafe, yet fails to resolve the defect or provide fair compensation. The only remedy is a manufacturer buyback, but JLR systematically undervalues offers, basing them on depressed Kelley Blue Book (KBB) values from Oct 2024 instead of pre-defect values minus reasonable depreciation. This forces owners into financial losses while JLR’s delays further erode resale value. JLR has refused to provide clear documentation on its buyback calculations, delayed responses to affected owners, and employed coercive tactics, telling consumers to accept flawed offers or risk future depreciation. In March 2023, nine months after purchasing our I-PACE, we experienced the first of three "Traction Battery Faults," narrowly avoiding fire. Since then, our vehicle has been restricted to an 80% charge, reducing range by 26% while still requiring outdoor parking due to fire risk. JLR’s failure to act promptly violates federal safety standards and leaves affected vehicles as potential hazards in public spaces. I urge NHTSA to investigate and enforce timely recall remedies, fair valuation processes, and immediate buyback completion. Owners should not be receiving emails like this. "It appears that we cannot agree on the repurchase of your MY2019 Jaguar I-PACE impacted by recall H514/H536. Please note that this final recall remedy will remain open on your vehicle. In the future, should you decide to accept the H536 final recall remedy (repurchase) for your MY2019 Jaguar I-PACE, the amount offered at that time may not be the same as today, due to depreciation, age, and mileage."

Car has completely failed several times in the middle of busy streets including the freeway on ramp. Jag has replaced the 12v battery once, tried to update software and now the car is totally inoperable. Jaguar has had multiple recalls for the 2019 I-Pace to address the potential of a thermal overload event with the high voltage/traction battery through the use of software updates. The vehicle has a stated warranty that covers defects, and is good for 8 years/100,000 miles. The most recent software update has limited the ability to charge the battery to a max capacity of 80%, which was made available in November of 2023. It is not March of 2024 and a permanent fix has not been made available, and have been continue to drive vehicles that may be at risk for a fire. Jaguar does not be interested in honoring the terms of their warranty to replace a defective battery.
Mar 04, 2025
2019 Jaguar I-Pace vehicles are at risk of having their high voltage battery overload and smoke or catch fire. The manufacturer now are attempting to buy back the vehicles at KBB fair market values. Their fix should come at no expense to the owner, however they sold defect free and now are depreciated due to the fire risk, which is a great expense to the owners. Owners may not be able to replace the vehicles at these buyback prices and are forced to turn down the buyback offers. This is an unfair/deceptive practice that leaves owners liable of the fire hazard by driving their vehicles.

I was instructed to not charge my vehicle beyond 80% due to fire risk. I have elected the buyback from Jaguar Land Rover as my remedy of choice and have delivered the vehicle to the nearest dealer on February 17, as I was instructed to do so "anytime after February 13" as the agreement was made January 13 and payment would take 30 days to process. 43 days have now elapsed since the agreement and JLR NA have had possession of the vehicle for 8 days without payment. Now the JLR NA rep doesn't take my calls or return my emails.

I turned my vehicle on and it showed a Gearbox Fault Detected message. I was able to put the car in reverse and accelerate to 2 MPH while reversing. The car began to slow down even with my foot on the accelerator as if there was no power. I was fully reversed out of my parking spot and went to put the car in drive as I was in the middle of the very busy parking lot with cars waiting on either side to continue driving. The car would then turn on the parking break as I pressed the accelerator, no matter which gear I was in. I was stranded at an angle, causing traffic to be delayed with cars backed up all the way to both entrances of the parking lot and vehicles in the street at a complete stop to enter with a 40MPH speed limit. I had to get my vehicle towed to Jaguar Dealer Service and after diagnostic the harness for the Parking Pawl has failed and needs to be replaced. If I had been reversing out of my home into the street, or really anywhere else than the parking lot I was in, I would have caused an accident. We’re lucky an accident wasn’t caused from people being stopped in the street.

I was informed over three months ago of the battery problem with a chance of fires. I’ve been calling JLR, and keep getting told the same thing: that they are in the process of reaching out to customers to buy back the vehicles since they can’t fix the problem, and “someone should be in touch in about 2 weeks”. Nobody has contacted me via either phone or email. My last calls to them were on 1/31 and 2/15. Same response. Given this is a serious condition, how can they wait for 3 months?? I would like to get to resolution soon so that there are no safety issues that I have to constantly worry about.

The contact owns a 2019 Jaguar I-Pace. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle also failed to shift to neutral. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to fully charge. The battery warning error was displayed. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V633000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was towed, and the local dealer was contacted. The dealer diagnosed that the failure was due to the traction battery and the main battery. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact not to park in the garage due to a possible fire. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer offered a buyback, but the buyback was not finalized. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

My vehicle experienced a persistent series of malfunctions over the course of its use, primarily related to the electric battery system. The most serious issue is a complete failure of the high-voltage battery, rendering the car entirely inoperable. The vehicle now displays a "Battery Fault" error message and cannot be started or driven. The manufacturer (Jaguar Land Rover) refuses to repair the vehicle under warranty while a buyback negotiation is underway, leaving me with an unusable and potentially unsafe EV. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, no adequate repair or restitution has been provided. The vehicle is currently in my possession and available for inspection upon request. The vehicle's battery failure occurred without warning, and the car is now immobilized in a location where it could pose a hazard if not towed. The sudden loss of power and refusal to start could have placed me or others at risk had this occurred while driving or in traffic. The Jaguar Service Center confirmed the issue is due to a battery fault but declined to repair it during ongoing manufacturer buyback discussion. No repair or further inspection has been done. The vehicle displayed repeated system alerts and warning messages over the past two years. Most recently, it showed a persistent "Battery Fault" message immediately before total failure. Earlier issues included unreliable charging, loss of power, and recurring error messages related to the electric drive system. The earliest warning messages began with the first year of ownership (within the last month). The complete failure with "Battery Fault" occurred in July 2025.

Jaguar notified owners of the recall's temporary fix and the ultimate remedy of buyback going back some months. The notice included contact information for Jaguar Relationship Centre. I have reached out on multiple occasions to the contact information provided in the recall notice to gain clarity on the buyback process and been told that the department we were told to contact has no information and can't help. To date, I've paid for out of pocket expenses incurred with the ownership of a car that will be bought back, have seen a depreciation in value of the vehicle which likely impacts the ultimate buyback price and have been provided zero information on when this process should be completed or how it will be completed. Jaguar has failed to remedy the specifics of the H514 recall in a timely fashion, now adding an H536 recall. Further the contact information they provided led to a department that was unable to provide any information regarding the ultimate remedy for the recall in question. I'd like the contact information of someone at Jaguar that can provide information on the process and a clear expectation of when it will be completed as H514 has been marked as closed though the final remedy for H514 has not been completed.

We started having issues with the battery back in 2023. Smaller batteries were replaced, and the car went in several times for "updates" due to recalls. The last two times were due to potential over-heating of the battery and a "track fault detected" error message displayed on the dash and the mileage decreased. Most recently the car was in the shop for 2 weeks early 2025 to replace a faulty cell in the larger battery. This was the most recent recall "fixing" the issue -- but when we received the car it wouldn't charge past 80%, meaning it was not fixed and able to charge to 100%. A letter received 3/19/25 confirmed the issue was indeed not fixed and that these cars needed to be purchased back in order to comply with safety measures. These cars are literal moving fire hazards. We have a short driveway and the car is next to our house and I am scared to have it on my property. The offers being sent are absolutely unacceptable, not even enough to cover what is remaining on the car loan. The purchasers of these cars should not be held accountable FINANCIALLY for the deplorable actions of LG and Jaguar/Land Rover.

used as daily drive for commute to work, each return to home, i would put it on the 7.5kw juicebox level 2 charger- this worked well since april 2024, until march 2025- upon returned from work, i place it on charge, and immediately went into "charging status error", with another message after disconnecting the charger port, "High voltage error but is ok to drive" message. Thinking it was a fluke, i let it sit few days, unplugged, and then attempted to check battery status on the driver dash screen, "high voltage error but is ok to drive" msg reappeared, i shut it off, waited 10 minutes, plugged in the charger that came with the car, 1.2kw charger, opened the driver door, waited for the screen to come on and display the battery charging status, to no avail. "Charging status:error" and in all red, and a red triangle on the right side of the dash display was present, along with brake error. I unplugged it, and attempted to move it further away from my house in case there is a problem i can't see, to no avail, i can not move it. the software updater shows no update available for the vehicle or for the infotainment center. the nearest dealer for me is over 40miles from me (rural area)- i have sent emails to JLR, and have not received acknowledgement or any replies.

After my Jaguar IPace was reprogrammed by the dealer for the 5th time in December, my mirrors have folding out issues, lane assist is malfunctioning, and there is a "coolant" warning and "service required" warning lights on my dash (Again). The Jaguar dealer has no information on and further updates or battery replacement. This car is now parked outside in case it catches fire per my recall instructions from Jaguar. How do I get a remedy for this?

Since April of this year, the car has consistently had problems! A few months ago, it started turning off suddenly!! Yes, suddenly even while driving! This was very alarming. I took it to the dealer in Cincinnati where it stayed for almost a month to be fixed! Then towards the end of August, it started running out of charge / not charging after driving a few miles with a dashboard warning to "stop immediately". I again shipped it to the dealer in Cincinnati where it has been there since then (over 6 weeks now!) Talking to the dealer, they do not seem to be certain of what happened and keep changing things. I am not sure if I feel safe driving such a car or owning it beyond the warranty

35mph limit road, moderate traffic, speed of 30-35mph suddenly car shows an error message on screen with regards to electrical fault of traction battery and reduced feel of brakes. On a contrary, brakes became extremely hard and unresponsive (zero braking efficiency) - car moving 30mph, no change in forward motion (minor jitter on the steering wheel), barely managed to change lane to avoid collision. If right lane would be occupied, that would be a certain collision with a car in front of me as I would have no place to bring the car to safety. Brake message cleared when the car stopped.

No normal braking available; unable to place car in park as normal; unable to turn car off as normal; The All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) lamp illuminated to confirm that the ASPC system is enabled however the brake warning lamp illuminates but the vehicle cannot be driven with care contrary to what the manual states, but seek qualified assistance urgently contradicts dangerous hard no braking system probably due to corrupt auxiliary battery system employed by Jaguar. Driving home near my house and into the garage the whole braking and parking system becomes difunctional was difficult to shut off car. Next day checked I-PACE system and was difficult to turn on back out. Drove down the block tested brakes. Brakes hard and secure or operable as brakes. Returned to garage slowly relying on car to stop some how with unusable brakes. Brake battery shoes 10.84 volts. Will contact dealers on Monday concerning unsafe to drive I-Pace due to jeopardized braking by system design.

2195 MILES, AND ONLY DRIVING IT FOR 60 DAYS. THANKFULLY I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY, WHEN THE CAR'S BRAKES STOPPED WORKING, THE CAR STARTED SHUDDERING VIOLENTLY. WHEN FINALLY WAS ABLE TO STOP CAR, THE I-PACE WOULD NOT GO INTO OR OUT OF GEAR, AND THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT RELEASE. INCREDIBLY SCARY. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED.

ON FEBRUARY 12, 2020, I LEFT THE HOUSE AROUND 9:15 A.M. TO ATTEND A YOGA CLASS AT 9825 CARROLL CENTRE ROAD, SUITE 400, SAN DIEGO. THE YOGA STUDIO IS LOCATED IN A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT AND AS I WAS EARLY, THE ENTIRE PARKING LOT WAS EMPTY EXCEPT FOR ONE OTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 9:30 AM THAT MORNING. SO I DROVE AROUND IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING, #9825, AND DECIDED TO PARK ON THE OTHER SIDE FROM THE ONE VEHICLE PARKED THERE. SEE FIGURE 1. (SEE MAP OF 9825 CARROLL CENTER ROAD LOCATION. THE RED RECTANGLE SHOWS WHERE I PARKED; BLUE RECTANGLE SHOWS WHERE THE ONLY OTHER VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARKING LOT AT 9:30 AM ON WEDNESDAY, 2/12/20.) AS I SLOWLY PULLED INTO THE PARKING SPOT, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS ONE DOES WHEN PARKING, THE JAGUAR I-PACE SUDDENLY SURGED AND ACCELERATED, DRIVING OVER THE CURB AND HEDGE IN FRONT ON TO THE OTHER SIDE AND RAMMED INTO THE PARKED VEHICLE, A VW BEETLE! IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE! SEE FOLLOWING PICTURES INCLUDING TREAD MARKS, SHOWING THE ACCELERATION WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE PARKING SLOT. I WAS VERY SHAKEN BY THE INCIDENT AND SAT IN THE CAR FOR SOME TIME IN TOTAL DISBELIEF. THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS IN MY CAR OR IN THE CAR I STRUCK. WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO MOVE, I GOT OUT OF THE CAR CAREFULLY AS IT WAS BALANCED ON TOP OF THE BUSHES WITH SOME OF THE WHEELS IN THE AIR. THE OWNER OF THE VW BEETLE ALSO CAME OUT ASKED IF I WAS OK. FORTUNATELY, I AM PHYSICALLY OK, JUST VERY SHAKEN AND TRAUMATIZED BY THE ENTIRE INCIDENT WHICH HAD LASTED NO MORE THAN SECONDS. THE NEXT 6 HOURS WERE SPENT CALLING MY INSURANCE, AAA FOR EMERGENCY TOWING, RENTAL CARS, ETC. BY MID-AFTERNOON OF FEBRUARY 12, 2020, I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF JAGUAR SAN DIEGO THAT MY I-PACE CHECKED OUT OK AND ALL SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE CURRENT!

SINCE I PURCHASED JAGUAR I-PACE I BEEN HAVING BATTER FAULT ISSUES WHICH NOW STANDARD ME WITH THE VEHICLE. I RECEIVE BATTERY FAULT ERRORS AND THE CAR STOPS WORKING. THE CAR STAYS ON BUT WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE OR REVERSE AND HIT THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENS. ITS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE CAR SHOULD NOT JUST STOP FROM DRIVING WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR IS WORKING IN TERMS OF AIR CONDITION, STEERING WHEEL ETC.... ALSO THERE IS CONSTANT ERRORS WHEN IT COMES TO BLIND SPOT ALERT. THE VEHICLE TELLS YOU THEY ARE DISABLED, IF YOU RESTART THE VEHICLE IT RESENTS BUT COMES BACK. ALSO THE DASHBOARD SOMETIMES JUST GOES BLANK AND WILL COME BACK A FEW MINUTES LATER. ITS SCARY AS YOU SUDDENLY DONT KNOW HOW FAST YOUR GOING OR WHAT IS GOING ON TILL THE SCREEN COMES BACK FEW SECONDS LATER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FEW TIMES BUT STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. ITS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AGAIN TO BE FIXED. THIS VEHICLE IS 100% ELECTRIC AND I'M ATTACHING SOME PICTURES OF THE ERRORS.

Vehicle: Jaguar I-PACE Model Year: 2019 VIN: [XXX] Mileage at incident: ~63,000 miles Dealers Involved: Jaguar Land Rover Ft. Myers (FL), Jaguar Land Rover Naples (FL) Incident Dates: June–September 2025 Complaint Summary: Between June–September 2025 my Jaguar I-PACE experienced warranty and service obstruction tied to the traction battery recall. Jaguar Land Rover Ft. Myers submitted a false warranty claim for traction battery replacement, which was denied by the insurer as excluded. At the same time, the dealer misled the ADA driver/policyholder with a “coolant pump fault” explanation, even though the A/C system was operating normally, which made that failure mechanically impossible. The dealership never provided diagnostic codes from TOPIx/Pathfinder. On [XXX], at ~63,000 miles, the I-PACE was immobilized by a 12V failure. Both Ft. Myers and Naples dealerships refused assistance, leaving an ADA driver stranded. I had to replace the 12V battery myself to restore mobility. This raised a serious safety issue, as an immobilized I-PACE cannot be moved to a safe location in the event of fire. Text messages show direct Jaguar Land Rover Corporate involvement, with Ft. Myers stating: “We started a tech case and they will not proceed until they know if it is a buyback” and “Tech assistance will not give us assistance because of the open recall for buyback.” This demonstrates corporate obstruction of warranty rights. Multiple owners reported traction battery faults from March–June 2025 before signing NDAs tied to buyback settlements. This suggests a wider pattern of recall-related service restrictions. Requested Action: NHTSA is requested to investigate Jaguar Land Rover’s handling of the I-PACE traction battery recall, including obstruction of warranty service, denial of diagnostic access, and treatment of disabled/ADA drivers. These issues may affect a large number of recalled vehicles nationwide. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jaguar contacted me multiple times now about safety recalls. Subsequently they performed a service which reduced the range of the EV from 230 miles to 170 miles, rendering it largely unusable for my driving needs. In addition according to their latest document, the “fix” may not eliminate the fire risk as we use the car. I have contacted them for 3 times now and they keep saying “soon” I will be contacted about a buy back because they are unable to fix the car and return it to spec. The car was also still in warranty. I do not believe JLR is proceeding at a reasonable pace as months have gone by since the earliest notices, not only inconveniencing and effectively defrauding its customers but also keeping our safety at risk. I am hoping NHTSA can intervene with Jaguar to do the right thing and honor their commitment to NHTSA and customers.

My car has failed while driving four different times. Each time I am driving on a busy road, I get a "traction battery fault" warning, then the vehicle loses the ability to drive and completely shuts down. Each time leaving me and my family stranded in the middle of the road. These events have happened on 10/1/2023; 4/1/2024; 7/16/2024; and 12/20/2024. My car is still in the shop undiagnosed from the 12/20/2024 incident today 1/20/2025. A month. I have had to pay for battery replacements, rentals, towing, etc. now well past $10,000.

My vehicle is part of the jaguar recall H514. I have started the buyback process with jaguar and they are being slow and now I have a car that is only charging to 80% and I am scared to drive it. when I reach out to Jaguar they tell there is a process and that this will all take time. My issues is that it was me who started the process and per your recall notice they were supposed to contact vehicle owners and begin the process. It seems like its cut and dry and there toll free customer service line is not helpful.

I have had issues with this car in terms of the various batteries. some of this has caused other issues with other components such as the brakes. I was driving last week on the freeway when my traction battery light came on and the brakes basically stopped working (Its was hard to press the brake pedal). The when i start it it again everything working fine. I took it to the dealer and notified jaguar only to find out a buyback program is in place so I started it. I find it interesting that Jaguar had never contacted me regarding this buyback and I only found out about it when I did my own research. Very scary to think of. So now I have my car back and it is only able to charge up to 80% of the capacity which does not work and I am also very scared to drive this vehicle around. I am now going through the jaguar buyback process but it is slow and in the meantime I have nothing to drive. They know the car is a lemon and they have agreed to buyback so why is it taking soo much time?

The contact owns a 2019 Jaguar I-Pace. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal felt significantly hard and the vehicle hesitated to respond, causing the braking distance to be extended. The message "Okay to Drive with Caution - Brake Pedal Feel Reduced" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where one of the 12-Volt battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact replaced the second 12-Volt battery; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing battery failure. The messages "Okay to Drive with Caution - Traction Battery Fault Detected" and "ASPC Not available" were displayed. The contact stated that the main battery was replaced. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V369000 (Electrical System); however, the failure increased after the recall repair. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the front drive motor failed to shift into gear, causing the vehicle to stall. The message "Gear Box Failure" was displayed. The contact was unable to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the drive motor and pawl actuator harness had failed and needed to be replaced. The parts were replaced. The contact also stated that water had leaked onto the dashboard through the windshield. The dealer replaced the windshield and the head display. The contact stated the brake failure had been recurring intermittently while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

The BCCM in a high number of 2019 Jaguar iPace cars are going bad. The BCCM is the main charging component of the vehicle that controls the electrical system and creates a huge hazard and series of malfunctions when it goes bad. It renders the car immobile and you can not charge it. The dealerships and Jaguar North America refuse to recognize this. There is a significant backorder of these parts because of this issue and the dealership mentioned to me that they see this issue ALL THE TIME. Jaguar should be recalling this part for those of us, like myself, whose car is out of warranty.

ELECTRIC SYSTEM DID NOT START (HAPPENS REPEATEDLY) BUT NOW GOT A WARNING THAT BRAKE FUNCTION WAS IMPAIRED. ATTEMPTING TO BACKUP DID NOT TRIGGER BACKUP CAMERA NOR WERE RCT SENSORS ACTIVATED. THE REAR TRAFFIC SENSORS NOT WORKING HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND ONCE, IT SHOWED ALL CLEAR AND THEN SUDDENLY A CAR APPEARED IN THE BACKUP CAMERA. SENSORS NEVER WENT OFF AND IF I WASN'T PAYING ATTENTION, AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. BLIND SPOT MONITORING HAS THE EXACT SAME CHALLENGE MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND IS VERY UNRELIABLE. OF COURSE THAT'S TRUE FOR ALMOST THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE.

ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, TWO WITH MY WIFE, AND ONCE WITH ME, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AS IF THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR EVEN THOUGH OUR FEET WERE NO ON THE ACCELERATOR. WITH MY WIFE DRIVING, SHE WAS PULLING INTO PARKING SPACES GOING 5MPH OR SLOWER. I WAS COASTING DOWNHILL AT 40MPG WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED AND THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. WE REPORTED EACH INCIDENT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY RELAYED THE INFORMATION TO JAGUAR TECHNICAL SUPPORT. IN ALL CASES JAGUAR SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND WANT US TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. THE LAST TIME THEY ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR 100 MILES. WE ARE NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR WE WILL HIT AND INJURE SOME INNOCENT PARTY OR HARM OUR SELVES.

MY 4-MONTH-OLD CAR'S BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE WHILE TRAVELING AT 60MPH IN THE FAST LANE OF THE FREEWAY. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND COAST ACROSS THE FREEWAY TO THE HARD SHOULDER WHERE THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN EARLIER IN THE DAY WHEN THE CAR REPORTED "REDUCED BRAKE PEDAL FEEL, OK TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION. LATER IN THE DAY A MESSAGE REPORTED "ASPC NOT AVAILABLE." AT THIS POINT I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO ADVISED US TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT DAY. SOME TIME AFTER THIS ALERT WE RECEIVED A SERIES OF RAPID MESSAGES - "TRACTION CONTROL OFFLINE" "EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSIST OFFLINE - OK TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION" AND SEVERAL OTHERS WHICH I DON'T RECALL. THE FINAL WARNING WAS "GEAR BOX FAULT" - AT THIS POINT I THOUGHT IT WISE TO PULL OVER, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO USE THE BRAKES THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL. JUST A GRINDING, CRUNCHING FEELING UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL. I TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND COASTED TO THE RIGHT LANE THROUGH FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC, AND THEN ONTO THE HARD SHOULDER. I BELIEVE THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS WORKING AND THIS MANAGED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. ON THE HARD SHOULDER I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL STILL HAD A GRINDING, CRUNCHING FEELING AND WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE PARK/DRIVE/NEUTRAL BUTTONS JUST FLASHED IF YOU PRESSED THEM. I WAS IN THE CAR WITH TWO CHILDREN UNDER 6 AND MY WIFE. WE WERE VERY CONCERNED AS THERE WAS VERY LITTLE SPACE AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NO WAY TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. WE PRESSED THE CAR'S SOS BUTTON AND THE WOMAN ADVISED WE CALL 911 TO BE RESCUED BY THE POLICE. JAGUAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SENT A TOW TRUCK TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO JAGUAR MONTEREY FOR REPAIR. A FEW DAYS LATER WE WERE TOLD THE CAR'S "POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX" HAD FAILED. THE CAR HAD NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS. WHEN PURCHASED IT HAD THE "ASPC NOT AVAILABLE" ERROR AND HAD TO GO BACK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR.
