MADE A 500 MILE ROAD WHEN THE AIR SUSPENSION FAULT MESSAGE CAME ON ( YELLOW LIGHT), BUT THAT HAD HAPPENED PERIODICALLY AND SEEMED TO BE A COMPUTER FAULT. THE CAR RAN FINE. THEN AFTER A 2 DAY PERIOD OF NO USE, WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED A RED WARNING LIGHT CAME INDICATING VEHICLE TOO LOW AND ON OUTSIDE INSPECTION THE CAR WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE TIRES. IN 2010, BOTH SUSPENSION STRUTS WERE REPLACED.

THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE LOW SUSPENSION PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS SLOWED DIRECTLY ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE CAR WAS SO LOW THAT IT DRUGGED THE BOTTOM. THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO HAVE IT TOWED. THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN LAST YEAR AND I HAD TO RENT A CAR ALL WINTER LONG UNTIL THE WHETHER WARMED UP. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED BUT IT STARTED AGAIN WITH LOW TEMPERATURE OF 30 DEGREES. JAGUAR SHOULD REFUND OUR MONEY FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. *TR

I HAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL THAT I CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE OF SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. VEHICLE TOO LOW AND SUSPENSION FAULT WARNINGS CAME ON. JUST RIDING AROUND THE CITY (MACON, GA) AND THE VEHICLE LOW LIGHT CAME ON. WENT OUT AFTER A WHILE SO DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT. THE NEXT MORNING NOTICED THE FRONT END WAS LOW. STARTED THE CAR AND THE VEHICLE LOW LIGHT WAS ON AND AFTER THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. THESE TWO LIGHTS KEPT FLASHING ONE AFTER THE OTHER. TOOK VEHICLE TO AN IMPORT REPAIR FACILITY..NO JAGUAR DEALERS NEAR. WAS QUOTED AIR SHOCK REPLACEMENT/ INSTALL FOR ABOUT 2500 DOLLARS. SO I ORDERED THE EXACT SAME PART ONLINE AND HAD THEM INSTALLED FOR HALF THAT AMOUNT. EXACTLY ONE MONTH LATER A FEW DAYS AGO..THE SAME LIGHTS ARE ON AGAIN AND THE FRONT END IS ONCE AGAIN TOO LOW TO DRIVE. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN BRAKING. DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT AUGUST 5, 2010 I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR, IT WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT. AUGUST 6, 2010 AT 12:15PM I DROVE FROM MY APARTMENT TO THE PEBBLE BEACH LODGE PARKING LOT (APPROX. 5 MILES AND 10 MINUTES). AT 4:15PM AND AFTER A LONG LUNCH AT THE LODGE I DROVE MILE TO MY BANK PARKING LOT NEAR THE LODGE. I WENT TO THE BANK AND THE PEBBLE BEACH MARKET NEARBY. AT 5PM I DROVE HOME, I WAS DRIVING ON AN ASPHALT PAVED ROAD IN PEBBLE BEACH AT APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 35 MPH AND LIGHTLY APPLIED THE BRAKE (ONLY) AROUND A CURVE AND THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD (EG, VIGOROUSLY ACCELERATED). I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKES, I WAS STARTLED AND LET THE CAR COAST FOR A FEW FEET, THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC ON PEBBLE BEACH DRIVE AT THAT TIME. I RESUMED THE DRIVE HOME, AND I WAS VERY MUCH ALERT AND AWARE AND VERY CAREFUL, I APPLIED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT INCIDENT AND STOPPED AT TWO STOP SIGNS BEFORE I APPROACHED THE THIRD STOP SIGN APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES LATER, AS I NEARED A 4 WAY STOP INTERSECTION, I SLOWLY I APPLIED THE BRAKES A NORMAL DISTANCE BEFORE THE INTERSECTION, BUT AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE THE INTERSECTION, THE CAR LURCH FORWARD AND I INSTANTLY PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL (ONLY, NOT THE GAS PEDAL) AND MOVED THE SHIFTER INTO THE PARK POSITION AND TURNED THE KEY OFF. WHILE DRIVING ON 95 SOUTH IN RI AT APPROX. 60MPH, MY 2004 JAGUAR XJ8 SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER, INCLUDING ENGINE, STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITIES. IT NEARLY RESULTED IN A MULTI CAR FATAL ACCIDENT FROM BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. THE DEALER STATED, AFTER A SYSTEMS CHECK, THAT AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR HAD FAILED RESULTING IN A $500.00 REPLACEMENT COST. 2004 JAGUAR XJ8 . CONSUMER STATES UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE APPROACHING A FOUR-WAY STOP, HE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. HE WAS DRIVING SLOWLY, WHEN HE REMOVED HIS RIGHT FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND BEGAN TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. INSTEAD OF THE VEHICLE GRADUALLY SLOWING DOWN, THE ENGINE RACED TO AN EXTREMELY HIGH RPM. HE PRESSED FURTHER ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD ABOUT 30 FEET BEFORE STOPPING JUST SHORT OF A TRUCK CROSSING IN THE INTERSECTION. THE SAME SITUATION HAPPENED AGAIN IN A PARKING LOT WHICH CAUSED THE CONSUMER T RUN UP ON A CONCRETE STOP ALMOST STRIKING A PEDESTRIAN. WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED HOME LATER IN THE EVENING, THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL AND HE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CHECKED FOR THE RECALL AND THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN WHERE THE CONSUMER ALMOST HIT A VEHICLE APPROACHING FROM HIS LEFT. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A JAGUAR WITH FUZION HRI 225/45/17 TIRES. I NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE TIRES HAD A SIX INCH CIRCUMFERENTIAL SEPARATION AT THE LETTERING ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. THE TIRE STILL HAD 9/32 OF 10/32 TREADWEAR AVAILABLE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW IDENTICAL TIRE UNDER MANUFACTURES WARRANTY. I THEN NOTICED THAT THE OTHER FRONT TIRE HAD AN IDENTICAL BUT SHORTER SEPARATION ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. THE DEALER WAS AGAIN CONTACTED AND ADVISED OF THE DEFECT. THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE IS CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER OF FUZION TIRES TO CHECK FOR A DEVELOPING TREND. I MYSELF GOOGLED THE TIRE FOR OTHER REPORTED DEFECTS. I BOUGHT MY CAR IN OCTOBER 2008. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I NOTICED THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOST FREQUENTLY. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHANGED ALL FOUR TIRES FOR FREE, STATING THAT THE TIRE HAD SOME ROTTING CAUSED BY SITTING TO LONG. NOT LONG AFTER I NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM AND BUBBLES STARTED TO FORM ON BOTH MY FROM TIRES BUT THE DEALER SAID IT WAS MY FAULT FOR HITTING POTHOLES AND CURBS. CAR INVOLVED WAS A 2004 JAGUAR XJ8. WHILE TRAVELING FROM ST LOUIS TO TULSA ON HIGHWAY 44, SHORTLY AFTER THE TOLL PLAZA AND ABOUT 40 MILES FROM TULSA, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF PRIOR TROUBLE. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND FLIPPING OFF THE CAR WHICH LANDED IN THE MUD ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF MANUAL TRANSMISSION FOR JAGUAR 2004 X TYPE CAR. 1) THERE WAS NO EVENTS OR SYMPTOMS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE @ 47,000 MILES. I AM A PROFESSIONAL COMMERCIAL DRIVER WITH 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS TO KNOW THE SYMPTOMS. 2) DOWN SHIFTING AT 5 MPH, TO PREPARE FOR A TURN, LOUD GRINDING SOUND FOR 58 SECONDS AS WE HEARD A PIECE OF METAL GRINDING THROUGH THE TRANSMISSION INCLUDING THE FLY WHEEL. THEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS TOTALED. 3) TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE, FOR $ 3245. I SAVED ALL OF THE BROKEN PARTS FOR INSPECTION IN MY PURSUIT OF FAIRNESS. RESEARCHED MANUAL CLUTCH FAILURES WITH OTHERS OWNING THE SAME CAR. FOUND 30 OTHERS WHO CLUTCHES FAILED BEFORE 50,000 MILES OF THEIR JAG X TYPE CAR. THIS IS NOT A FLUKE. JAG X TYPE 2.5 WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY. SUDDENLY WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN A LOUD SOUND LIKE METAL GRINDING WAS HEARD AS CLUTCH REFUSED TO ENGAGE INTO ANY GEAR. IT WAS GONE. AS A FORMER PROFESSIONAL DRIVER I KNEW THE SOUNDS AND FELT WHEN A CLUTCH WAS WEARING OUT. THIS WAS AT 46,938 MILES. DEFECTIVE DESIGN, MECHANICAL AS SOME PART BROKE OR SHATTERED, NOT DUE TO DRIVER ERROR. JAGUAR SERVICE SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, BUT WHEN I WAS CONSIDERING TO BUY THIS CAR THE JAGUAR MANAGEMENT ASSURED ME THAT ALL PAST MECHANICAL PROBLEMS HAD BEEN CORRECTED IN THESE NEW X TYPE CARS. I KEPT THE OLD DAMAGED PARTS AFTER PAYING $ 3246, PLUS $340 CAR RENTAL , AND $ 65 TAXI. IT TOOK A SECOND TRIP BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE CLUTCH TO ENGAGE PROPERLY. THIS JAGUAR 2004 XJ8 HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO 6 UNINTENDED ACCELERATONS OVER A PERIOD OF HALF A YEAR INCLUDING TWO IN THE DEALER'S SHOP. WHEN IN TRAFFIC OR CLOSE QUARTERS IT HAS BEEN NECESSARY TO PLACE THE SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL OR REVERSE TO CONTROL THE ACCELERATION. THE DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR IN HIS SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS. ON THE FIRST OCCASION NOTHING WAS FOUND. ON THE SECOND OCCASION IT WAS SAID THAT THE FUEL PUMP OR ITS WIRING HARNESS WERE FAULTY AND WERE REPLACED. ON THE PRESENT OCCASION IT WAS THOUGHT THAT POSSIBLY THIS WAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN MUTIPLE EPISODE AND SO ONLY THE LAST ONE IS MENTIONED BELOW.

The contact owns a 2004 Jaguar XJ8. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal made an abnormal rattling sound and went down to the floorboard. The vehicle hesitated to respond. The ABS warning light and the traction control warning light were illuminated. Additionally, the message "Park Brake Fault" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V144000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The local dealer and a secondary dealer, Land Rover Princeton (958 US-206, Princeton, NJ 08540), were contacted. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JAGUAR X TYPE. HE STATED THAT HE HAS TO EXERT GREAT FORCE DURING BRAKE APPLICATION TO STOP THE VEHICLE. INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES CAN LEAD TO A VEHICLE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION A TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE BRAKE CHECK VALVE, DUE TO CORROSION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50982. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61000.

I BOUGHT THE 2004 JAGUAR X-TYPE WITH APPROX 48,000 MILES. THE ENTIRE TIME I'VE OWNED THE CAR, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WILL TURN ON AND OFF WHEN AN ADULT WEIGHING LESS THAN 135LBS SITS IN THE FRONT SEAT. YOU CAN MOVE AND FIGET, AND THE "AIRBAG OFF" LIFE WILL TURN OFF, ONLY TO INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS A LIGHTWEIGHT ADULT IN THE FRONT SEAT MAY NOT HAVE AIRBAG PROTECTION IN A CRASH. JAGUAR SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEAT AND SENSOR, AND TO ADJUST THE SEAT DIFFERENTLY UNTIL THE "AIRBAG OFF" LIFE GOES OFF. THE POINT IS THAT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT PUTTING THE SEAT IN ANY PARTICULAR POSITION WILL RESULT IN A SAFE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT FOR A LIGHT WEIGHT ADULT. THE AIR BAG IS SUPPOSED TO BE INSIDE THE HORN; HOWEVER, IT IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY ONE INCH FROM WHERE IT SHOULD BE LOCATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE HEAT IN THE VEHICLE CAUSED THE AIR BAG TO POP OUT. THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER ON APRIL 15TH AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. I BOUGHT A 2004 XJR JAGUAR. IT WAS NEW AND HAD DEALER ADDED CHROME WHEELS($3,000 ADDITIONAL COST). THE RIMS WERE DEFECTIVE AND I ASKED THE DEALER TO IDENTIFY THE SUPPLIER OF THE RIMS SO THAT I COULD CONTACT THE SUPPLIER DIRECTLY. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT DID NOT KEEP A RECORD OF WHERE IT PURCHASED THE WHEELS. IT'S A 2004 X -TYPE, PURCHASED 8/04 AND HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY FOR 50,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD BE ABOUT $200, AND THEY HAD THE PART IN STOCK. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JAGUAR XJ8. WHILE DRIVING 72 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED "DSJ OFF". THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED, WHICH BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE HALT. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 60-65 MPH. THE CONTACTS VEHICLE SPUN AROUND INTO FOUR LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. I WAS READY TO PARK, I HADN'T EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE OFF SEAT BELT OR TURN OFF IGNITION WHEN THERE WAS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION. CAR TOOK OFF LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL. STEPPED ON BRAKE, CAR WOULD NOT STOP. FINALLY IT STOPPED AT EMBANKMENT WITH THE HELP OF A CHAMISA TREE. CAR WAS TAKEN TO ONLY JAGUAR REPAIR IN NEW MEXICO, THAT BEING MELLOY JAGUAR IN ALBUQUERQUE. IT WAS TAKEN THERE TWICE, THE ASSESSMENT NO PROBLEM WITH CAR; NO CODES COULD RELATE TO SUDDEN ACCELERATION, BLAME WAS ON ME, WITH MELLOY STATING IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME STEPPING ON GAS AND BRAKE AT SAME TIME. LAME EXCUSE, I SHOULD HAVE HAD THE CODE MACHINE ON ME; I HAVE DRIVEN FOR OVER THIRTY EIGHT YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH SUDDEN ACCELERATION. MY MOTHER WAS WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT WE WERE NOT HURT. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER OF 2006, IT WAS A USED CAR. CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 25,500 MILES. FROM THE TIME WE PURCHASED VEHICLE, WE HAD PUT APPROXIMATELY 11,000 MILES IN A YEAR WHEN CAR STARTED ACTING UP. THIS SUMMER, CAR, WHEN STOPPED, STARTED TO TAKE OFF ON IT'S OWN. CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED IT. DAUGHTER WAS WITH ME. HUSBAND ALSO HAD AN INCIDENT. WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE TO STOP, THE CAR ACCELERATES. THE HARDER I PRESS ON THE BRAKE THE MORE THE CAR WANTS TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE HAD AT LEAST SIX INCIDENCES OF THIS SITUATION IN THE COURSE OF APPROXIMATIONS FOUR MONTHS. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO JAGUAR SERVICE THE FIRST TIME THEY RETURNED THE CAR TO ME SAYING THAT "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR". WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THEM THE SECOND TIME, I WAS VERY SPECIFIC ABOUT HOW THE PROBLEM DEVELOPED. AFTER FOUR DAYS IN THE SHOP THEY WERE ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE ACCELERATOR BRACKET EXTENDS BEYOND THE AREA OF THE ACCELERATOR TO THE LEFT AND THEREFORE CAN AT TIMES INTERFERE WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. JAGUAR CLAIMS THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, ALTHOUGH I WAS ABLE TO FIND AT LEAST ONE OTHER PERSON, ON AN INTERNET WEBSITE, "MYCARSTATS.COM", WHO IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I INFORMED JAGUAR THAT I AM HOLDING THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES CAUSED BY THIS DEFECT. I SIGNED A 36 MONTH LEASE CONTRACT AND TOOK DELIVERY OF A 2004 JAGUAR X-TYPE FROM JAGUAR OF NOVI ON 3/15/04. AT APPROXIMATELY 6,700 MILES/3 MONTHS, THE CAR BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM WHERE THE VEHICLE, WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEED, WILL GO INTO SAFE MODE WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO LURCH AND SURGE UNTIL IT CAN BE DRIVEN TO THE SHOULDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. ONCE RESTARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON BUT OCCASIONALLY, WILL NOT STAY ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO JAGUAR OF NOVI WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED SUBSEQUENT TO THIS INITIAL REPAIR THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, MOSTLY VIA A TOW TRUCK A TOTAL OF 14 TIMES FOR THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM ALL OF WHICH ARE FULLY COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. I HAVE TAKEN LEGAL ACTION AT THIS POINT AND HAVE SIGNED AN AGREEMENT FOR SETTLEMENT UNDER THE CONSUMER LEMON LAW. THE REASON I AM FILING MY COMPLAINT IS THIS: MY VEHICLE POSES A SAFETY ISSUE. EVERY TIME I AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY VEHICLE IS REPAIRED AND READY TO BE PICKED UP, I DRIVE THE CAR FOR 50 MILES OR LESS AND THE CAR GOES INTO THE SAFE MODE AND I AM FORCED TO ABRUPTLY GET OFF THE ROAD OR RISK CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I CONTINUOUSLY COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHOSE ANSWER WAS,YOUR VEHICLE IS UN-FIXABLE. THEY STATE THEY CAN REPLACE PARTS (WHICH EVERY TIME IT IS IN, THE PARTS LIST IS NUMEROUS) BUT CANNOT PINPOINT THE PROBLEM, NOR GUARANTEE THAT THE PROBLEM WILL NOT RECUR. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE PICKED UP MY VEHICLE, BUT AM AWAITING THE DATE THAT JAGUAR CARS WILL TAKE MY CAR BACK AND SETTLE MY CASE. I AM REQUESTING THAT THE ISSUE BE INVESTIGATED, SINCE I FEEL THAT MY SAFETY IS COMPROMISED AND THEY KNOWINGLY RELEASE MY VEHICLE UN-REPAIRED. ALSO, THE ASSISTANT SAID THAT IN ORDER FOR A NEW UNIT TO BE GIVEN TO THE CONSUMER, THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE DECLARED AS A LEMON OR HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM 4 TIMES. DEALER ALSO PERFORMED QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTION ON VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE THAT VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
