HEADLIGHT ADJUSTERS BROKEN. THIS CAUSES THE HEADLIGHTS TO POINT DOWNWARD AT THE ROAD AND REDUCED VISIBILITY FOR NIGHT DRIVING. IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE LINES ON THE ROAD AND OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE LOCAL JAGUAR DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THESE PLASTIC ADJUSTERS ARE PRONE TO BREAKING IF ADJUSTED AND REFUSED TO WORK ON THE LIGHTS OR PROVIDE A VIABLE SOLUTION. THEIR FIRST CLAIM WAS THAT THESE LIGHTS COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED AND SENT ME AWAY TWICE WITHOUT SERVICING THE VEHICLE. THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO TELL ME TO SEARCH THE INTERNET. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET IT WAS CLEAR THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS EXTREMELY BRITTLE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS/ADJUSTS THE LIGHTS AND IF BROKEN DO NOT ALLOW FOR SAFE DRIVING.

MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10766521 FILED 9/21/2015. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ANGLED TOO LOW AND THE MECHANIC SAYS THAT A PLASTIC PIECE IS BROKEN AND THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I KEEP THE FOG LIGHTS ON TO COMPENSATE FOR THE LIMITED VIEW OF THE LOW BEAMS. I ALSO USE THE HIGH BEAMS AT NIGHT WHENEVER I CAN. THE HEADLIGHTS NOT PROPERLY ILLUMINATING THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

DRIVING AT NIGHT I NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS LOOK OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE RIGHT LIGHT WAS ABOUT NORMAL, BUT THE LEFT LIGHT WAS AIMED DOWN AND TO THE LEFT OF THE ROAD AHEAD. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE THE HIGHWAY. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW. IT'S NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR HIT ON THE FRONT END. IT'S A LONG WAY TO A DEALER, SO I WENT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THERE IS A PLASTIC PART BROKEN ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE LIGHTS. REPLACEMENT COST FOR PARTS (HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY) AND LABOR (BUMPER HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET TO THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY) WAS ALMOST $1500. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM SINCE I BELIEVE ITS A DEFECT. IT'S ALSO STRANGE THAT THE NC INSPECTION DOES NOT INCLUDE HEADLIGHT ALIGNMENT. IF IT LIGHTS, IT PASSES. DID NOT GET IT FIXED, WE JUST DON'T DRIVE IT AT NIGHT.

I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT UPON MOVING FORWARD I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR AND LOST MY TRANSMISSION. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AT RUSH HOUR WITH NO WARNING FORTUNATELY NO ONE CRASHED IN TO ME. I CALLED POLICE AND TOW TRUCK. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO HAVE REPLACED DIFFERENTIAL AND REAR AXLES. THE PRELIMINARY EXPLANATION GIVEN WAS THAT SOMETHING APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN OFF THAT GROUND UP THE DIFFERENTIAL. AFTER COMPLETION OF REPAIR I WAS ONLY TOLD THAT THERE HAD BEEN A MALFUNCTION. VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH ABOUT 44000 MILE ON IT. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70MPH, NOT ACCELERATING NOR COASTING, JUST MAINTAINING SPEED. JAGUAR 2005 XJ VDP HAS EXPERIENCED MANY EPISODES OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION DURING BRAKING TO A STOP. AS BRAKE IS APPLIED, THE ENGINE THROTTLES UP AND CAR CANNOT BE COMPLETELY STOPPED. I DRIVE A 2005 JAGUAR XJR THAT HAS DEFECTIVE TIRES, PILOT SPORT EXTRA LOAD. MICHELIN ISSUED A RECALL IN FEBRUARY 2006 AT WHICH TIME THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. SUBSEQUENTLY, MICHELIN NOTIFIED THE NHTSA THAT IT WAS RECALLING THESE TIRES FOR A DIFFERENT PROBLEM. THE TIRES ARE SUBJECT O A NOTICEABLE BLISTER ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 3 TIRES THAT EXHIBITED THIS VERY PROBLEM. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR FEAR THE TIRES WOULD POP. ON JULY 18 MY GREATEST FEAR WAS REALIZED AND THE TIRE DID POP WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE WASHINGTON, DC BELTWAY. I ARRIVED HOME SAFELY AND CONTACTED MICHELIN CUSTOMER SUPPORT TO EXPLAIN THAT I SAW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS WEBSITE REGARDING THE TIRES ON MY JAGUAR. THE INDIVIDUAL DIRECTED ME TO NATIONAL TIRE AND BATTERY (NTB) TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED. WHEN THE MANAGER AT NBT CONTACTED MICHELIN FOR AUTHORIZATION, HE INITIALLY DENIED MY CLAIM. WHILE I WAS AT NBT THE 2ND OF 3 AFFLICTED TIRES WHEN FLAT. MICHELIN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR COST ASSOCIATED WITH REPLACING THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR 40% OF THE COST, WHICH I DEEM VERY UNFAIR. I HOPE SOMEONE WILL LOOK INTO THIS VERY SERIOUS MICHELIN PILOT SPORT EXTRA LOAD TIRE ISSUE. THEY ARE PUTTING MANY OF US IN HARM'S WAY. DURING ROUTINE INSPECTION WHILE WASHING OUR SEDAN, TIRE AND WHEEL DAMAGE WAS NOTED ON PASSENGER-SIDE: FRONT TIRE HAS A BLISTER AND TWO CUTS WHERE TIRE MEETS WHEEL, WHEEL IS NICKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. REAR TIRE HAS ONE SMALL CUT WHERE TIRE MEETS WHEEL AND WHEEL IS NICKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. NO LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE OCCURRED. THESE LOW PROFILE TIRES APPEAR SUSPECTIBLE TO MINOR IMPACT DAMAGE FROM ROAD POTHOLES. WE CANNOT LOCATE AN IDENTICAL REPLACEMENT TIRE FROM AREA DEALERS.

I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH LOW TIRE PRESSURE. LAST WEEK THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE INEXPLICABLY WENT FLAT. THE FLAT WAS REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW CONTINENTAL TIRE. A DAY AFTER THAT REPLACEMENT, I CHECKED THE PRESSURE. THE VALVE ON THE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE .. I WOULD NOT HAVE NOTICED IT UNTIL I REMOVED THE CAP TO CHECK THE PRESSURE AND HEARD AIR ESCAPING. THE OTHER TIRE ON THE LEFT FRONT ALSO HAS A PROBLEM MAINTAINING AIR PRESSURE. I TOLD THE DEALER TO CHECK THE TIRE AND THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THIS CAN'T BE SINCE THE TIRE LOST PRESSURE ONLY AFTER PLACING AIR IN IT A DAY OR SO PRIOR. THIS CAR IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD. YET. I HAVE HAD TO PLACE AIR IN THE FRONT TIRES BEFORE I GO ANYWHERE. IT IS NOW AT A POINT WHERE I HAVE TO CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE BEFORE USING THE CAR. I DROVE A MERCEDES FOR 13 YEARS AND NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. BEFORE THAT A TOYOTA FOR 5 YEARS AND AGAIN NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A TIRE SPONTANEOUSLY LOSING PRESSURE. THIS IS THE 2ND X TYPE I HAVE HAD. I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE RIGHT REAR TIRE ON THAT VEHICLE. AT THAT TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS A NAIL HOLE. YET, N AFTER THAT ALLEGED HOLE WAS REPAIRED I HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH LOW TIRE PRESSURE. I WROTE IT OFF AS A SERVICE PROBLEM. HAD I REALIZED THAT THIS TIRE PROBLEM WAS MORE THAN AN ISOLATED INCIDENT ON ONE VEHICLE LI WOULD HAVE NEVER HAD LEASED THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. JUST GOOGLE "JAGUAR THROTTLE BODY" AND SEE HOW MANY PROBLEMS CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING. MY 2005 XJ8LWB WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MILES EXPERIENCED A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE. I LOST POWER AS THE ENGINE WENT TO IDLE SPEED AND AN "ENGINE FAULT" MESSAGE ALERTED ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER AND CREEP DOWN AN EXIT, WHERE I WAS ABLE TO FIND A SERVICE STATION. I TURNED THE ENGINE IGNITION OFF AND WAITED FOR 15 SECONDS AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, THE FAULT MESSAGE WAS GONE AND THE ENGINE HAD POWER AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT ANOTHER INCIDENT. WE ALL WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD IF AN 18 WHEELER WAS BEHIND US WHEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER. LAST FRIDAY, I HAD SEVERAL EPISODES WITH THE "ENGINE FAULT" AND LOSS OF POWER, BUT MADE IT TO A JAGUAR DEALERSHIP SAFELY, BUT SHAKEN. THEY PUT THE VEHICLE ON THE COMPUTER AND ANNOUNCED THE CODE THAT RELATES TO THE THROTTLE BODY AND FIGURED THE REPAIRS TO BE $1,100 AND THAT I COULD PICK UP THE CAR TODAY ON AUGUST 23, 2010. OVER THE WEEKEND I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND SAW THE VAST NUMBERS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME PEOPLE REPORTED ACCIDENTS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. AFTER 15-20 MINUTES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, VEHICLE SUDDENLY SWITCHES INTO "RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE" SHOWING THIS AMBER LIGHT INDICATOR AND AMBER ENGINE LIGHT. WE CHECK IN AT 13:34 AND CHECK OUT AT 16:47 AND WE PAID 129.64 FOR LABOR. INFORMATION ON INVOICE A. 129.64. INVOICE STATED: CUST SAYS TO PROGRAM CUST PROVIDED KEYS , QUOTED $130.00. CUSTOMER REQUESTED SUPPLIED KEYS TO BE PROGRAMMED. SCAN WITH ADD AND RAN KEY PROGRAMMING SESSION / FUNCTION . KEY CAN NOT BE PROGRAMMED AT THIS TIME DUE TO NETWORK COMMUNICATION FAILURE. I WILL START BY SAYING THAT I LOVE MY JAGUAR. IT IS THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER HAD, WITH ONE EXCEPTION. THIS IS NOW THE FIFTH INCIDENT OF CRACKING RIMS (SIZE 7.5X180 ET52.5) ON MY 2005 JAGUAR X-TYPE (EQUIPPED WITH THE SPORT PREMIUM PACKAGE). I WENT OUT TO PUT THE GARBAGE OUT ON SUNDAY, 20MAY12, WHEN I NOTICED THE FRONT DRIVER'S TIRE WAS LOW. I CHECKED THE PRESSURE, AND THE GUAGE SHOWED 0. THAT NIGHT I PUT IN 40 PSI OF AIR. THE FOLLOWING DAY I CHECKED IT AGAIN, AND THE GUAGE SHOWED 20 PSI. IT IS IMPORTANT TO STATE THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN USED SINCE 19MAY12 TO THAT POINT. I JACKED UP THE CAR, AND PULLED THE WHEEL OFF THE CAR. AFTER SPRAYING WITH SOAPY WATER ON THE INSIDE RIM BY THE SIDEWALL, I FOUND IT WAS BUBBLING. I PUT THE SPARE ON THE CAR. LATER I SWITCHED THE SPARE SO IT COULD BE ON THE DRIVER'S REAR (SO IT WOULD NOT BE ON A WHEEL THET STEERS). ON A WHIM, I CHECKED THE WHEEL THAT WAS ON THE DRIVER'S REAR SIDE AND FOUND IT WAS CRACKED AS WELL. I SPRAYED SOAPY WATER AND FOUND IT WAS NOT BUBBLING. I CALLED THE LOCAL JAGUAR DEALER, WHO STATED THEY HAVE NOT HAD ISSUES WITH THEIR RIMS, AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THEM. I FIND THE CRACKING RIMS TO BE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. MY WIFE AND I HAVE SPENT APPROXIMATELY $600 ON WHEEL REPAIRS. EVERY FACTORY ORIGINAL WHEEL ON THE CAR HAS BEEN CRACKED; SOME MORE THAN ONCE. WE HAVE ALSO SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON NEW TIRES BECAUSE THE RIMS WERE CRACKED AND DESTROYED SOME OF THE TIRES' SIDEWALLS. THE MOST RECENT CRACKS WERE DOCUMMENTED VIA PHOTOS FROM MY IPHONE. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING ISSUED WITH THEIR JAGUAR RIMS, YET I HAVE NOT SEEN A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. IT REALLY SHOULD BE. THIS IS THE CAR WE TAKE OUR FOUR-YEAR-OLD TO DAYCARE.
