4–8 · VDSCM826
9 · Check5
10 · YearR
11 · PlantA
12–17 · Serial004352
  • WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. Tells you it's a Ferrari and the country it was built in.
  • VDS (4–8) — model, body style, engine, trim & restraints. The 8th digit is the engine code.
  • Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
  • Model year (10) — the year it was built (e.g. R = 2024, S = 2025).
  • Plant (11) — which factory assembled this 360 Spider.

How many recalls does the Ferrari 360 Spider have?

The Ferrari 360 Spider has 2 recorded NHTSA recalls across 1995–2026. Pick a year below to see its recalls — then verify open recalls against your specific VIN.

2003 Ferrari 360 Spider recalls 1

Steering:hydraulic Power Assist:hose, Piping, And Connections04V294000

What's wrong. On certain vehicles, an oil leak in the hydraulic steering delivery pipe from the pump to the steering rack may occur which could lead to a gradual reduction of the assisted steering function.

Risk. Such circumstances could lead to loss of vehicle control and could result in a crash.

Fix. Dealers will replace the steering delivery hoses from the pump to the steering rack. Owner notification began on june 30, 2004. Owners should contact ferrari on 201-816-2651.

2001 Ferrari 360 Spider recalls 1

Electrical System:12v/24v/48v Battery02V091000

What's wrong. On certain passenger vehicles, the engine ground strap was manufactured improperly. As a result of the improper "crimping" of the ground strap connectors to the braided ground strap, the engine ground strap may not provide the proper electrical ground between the engine and the chassis.

Risk. If the strap fails to provide the proper ground to the chassis, the electrical system will seek a ground at the ignition coil. The vehicle's ignition coil ground cable could overheat and could cause the engine to stop. If the engine stopped while the vehicle was being driven, it could increase the risk of a crash.

Fix. Dealers will inspect the existing engine ground strap and, if necessary, replace the strap with a new one which has the proper connector crimping. Owner notification began april 15, 2002. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact ferrari at 1-201-816-2651.

It appears that a battery wiring harness leading to a fuse block overheated and created a fire in the passenger compartment footwell, involving the wire harness itself, the wire harness cover, the fuse block, passenger compartment carpet and nearby components.
