“Way On”

Iveco S.p.A. (Industrial Vehicles Corporation) is an Italian manufacturer of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, buses and military vehicles, headquartered in Turin, Italy. Iveco was founded in 1975 by the merger of Fiat Veicoli Industriali, OM, Lancia Veicoli Speciali, Magirus-Deutz, Unic and Officine Meccaniche of Italy. Iveco was part of CNH Industrial (formerly Fiat Industrial) until January 2022, when CNH Industrial spun off the on-highway truck and bus operations as the standalone Iveco Group N.V.

Iveco produces the Daily light-commercial van (Europe's top-selling LCV most years), the Eurocargo medium-duty truck and the S-Way Class 8 highway tractor. The Iveco Bus division produces urban and intercity buses. The S-Way LNG variant is one of the most fuel-efficient long-haul tractors in the European market, and the S-eWay represents Iveco's first battery-electric Class 8. Iveco Defence Vehicles produces the LMV military light vehicle (used by NATO forces) and the SuperAV armored amphibious vehicle.

Iveco Group trades on the Borsa Italiana under IVG. Iveco does not currently sell trucks in the US passenger or commercial market, although the Daily Cab-Chassis is offered through select US importers. Historical Iveco VIN data is maintained by ForCar.org for European-market vehicles.

Iveco heritage

Iveco was founded in 1975 by the merger of five truck-and-bus brands: Fiat Veicoli Industriali (Italy), OM (Italy), Lancia Veicoli Speciali (Italy), Magirus-Deutz (Germany) and Unic (France). The Italian government and Italian banks owned majority equity initially. The company became part of Fiat Industrial in 2011 and was rebranded into CNH Industrial in 2013 alongside Case IH (agricultural) and FPT (powertrain). The 2022 spin-off as Iveco Group separated the on-highway truck and bus operations from CNH's agricultural focus.

Market position

Iveco competes in European, South American, Australian and Middle Eastern commercial vehicle markets against MAN (TRATON), Scania (TRATON), Mercedes-Benz Trucks (Daimler), DAF (PACCAR), Renault Trucks (Volvo) and Volvo Trucks. The Daily LCV is Europe's best-selling 3.5-7.0 tonne van most years, primarily sold to small businesses and fleet operators. Iveco does not sell into US Class 8 markets and is unlikely to do so given the established North American brand dominance.
