Is Iveco reliable?
Across rated models, Iveco averages a 4.5/5 ForCar Reliability Score, with 1 model rated 4★ or higher. Each model is scored from NHTSA crash-test safety, recall frequency and the share of owner complaints involving a crash, fire or injury — not user reviews.
Iveco competes in European, South American, Australian and Middle Eastern commercial vehicle markets against MAN (TRATON), Scania (TRATON), Mercedes-Benz Trucks (Daimler), DAF (PACCAR), Renault Trucks (Volvo) and Volvo Trucks. The Daily LCV is Europe's best-selling 3.5-7.0 tonne van most years, primarily sold to small businesses and fleet operators. Iveco does not sell into US Class 8 markets and is unlikely to do so given the established North American brand dominance.

Iveco window stickers →How to read a Iveco VIN
Every Iveco built since 1981 carries a unique 17-character VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). It encodes where and when the vehicle was made, its engine and body — here's what each part means:
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. Tells you it's a Iveco and the country it was built in (real Iveco codes below).
- VDS (4–8) — model, body style, engine, trim & restraints. The 8th digit is the engine code.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built (e.g. R = 2024, S = 2025).
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled it.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
- —ZCF
The remaining digits — engine (8th), model-year letter (10th) and plant — follow the universal SAE standard. For the full year-code table, country codes and where the VIN is stamped, see the complete guide to reading a VIN.
About Iveco
Iveco was founded in 1975 by the merger of five truck-and-bus brands: Fiat Veicoli Industriali (Italy), OM (Italy), Lancia Veicoli Speciali (Italy), Magirus-Deutz (Germany) and Unic (France). The Italian government and Italian banks owned majority equity initially. The company became part of Fiat Industrial in 2011 and was rebranded into CNH Industrial in 2013 alongside Case IH (agricultural) and FPT (powertrain). The 2022 spin-off as Iveco Group separated the on-highway truck and bus operations from CNH's agricultural focus.
