However the engine started to surge and he was unable to stop. He crashed into the proceeding vehicle. The problem was caused by the triggering of the ABS by deterioration of the front wheel bearing
This van belongs to my mother. My sister was driving the day of the accident. She is 60 yrs of age and a very good driver. Her description: "just pulling away from one light & coming up to another. Wasn't going more than 20 mph. Step on the brakes & they weren't there." the accident caused about $500 in damage to the honda auto that was struck, and similar light damage to the bumper of the safari. I inspected system and found no leaks, and concluded that master cylinder may be failing, so I replaced it. After that repair, had excellent pedal. I borrowed the van a few days later, and while driving it, I experienced the same no brake condition 3 times, once which left the front end out into an intersection (luckily, no collision). I recognized that the anti-lock braking system was erroneously keeping the front brakes from applying, and that was what caused the no brake condition. A gm mechanic advised me to pull the ABS fuse. I did so, and now the van has great brakes, every time. I have done the same to another family vehicle also equipped with this dangerous system; I'm not waiting until it causes another accident. This condition screams for your attention. No one was hurt by this particular failure incident (except financially), but it is just a matter of time before someone ends up gliding into a busy intersection, or over a crosswalk, and does cause a death or two. Please have all these dangerous ABS vehicles recalled, and have these safety features-turned-
In december 2013 my wife and I were driving our 2003 gmc yukon xl 2500 4x4 outside of cooperstown, new york. The brakes failed on route 26 coming down the hill towards route 28. It was snowing and about 11:30 at night. We slid sideways down the hill and across route 28. The only thing that stopped us from rolling over an embankment was the new metal guardrail that was recently installed along route 28. Fortunately, we were not injured, and there was no one else on the road. I experienced immediate and complete brake failure. My brake pedal went completely to the floor. It was not a slow process. Our yukon is well maintained and has only 89,000 miles on it. 1 - my local dealer, where I bought the vehicle brand new, and who inspected my vehicle brake line failure and quoted the repairs, denied a backup system in the event of a brake line failure. 2 - a different repair shop said that all five of my brake lines had failed and were leaking fluid during a test to locate the problem. 3 - I have had the vehicle inspected by four different repair shops, within one weeks time, and they all confirm failure of the brake fluid lines due to rust. I did not yet have the brakes repaired yet because the quotes were so high. Many new yorkers may have already experienced this brake line failure , or are still at risk of a serious, or fatal accident. My concern is that there may have already been serious injuries and possibly deaths around the country and this brake line failure may have bee

I have an outstanding recall on my 2014 Yukon. This recall is several years old. As far as I can tell nothing has been done on this recall. This is a safety recall! Previously I owned a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban with the same recall on it. I was told that no parts were available for the repair. I repeat this is a SAFETY recall!!! We had a wreck in the 2008 chevrolet suburban which deployed the airbags. Lucky for us the airbag worked properly. My wife was setting in the front passenger seat. If the igniter had exploded she would have been seriously injured or killed. We bought this Yukon from Carmax. The car came to us from Alabama. Hot and high humidity. As I understand it these are the conditions that make the igniter more likely to explode. Please do something on this recall

I bought a car from Boone Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in North Carolina on [XXX] and by [XXX] my engine was out before I purchase my car I made sure they serviced my vehicle at a GMC Dealership and there's a warranty on the service of my engine I did not buy the warranty on my car because they couldn't guarantee that the warranty transferred over to West Virginia shop's and that they would cover issues they stated they could deny service cuz it was out of state. So my car went to Moses Cadillac GMC in downtown Charleston on [XXX] they literally just randomly dropped it back off to me two Wednesdays ago. I've been working with GMC to try to purchase a new vehicle and get mine bought back, but it's been a whole process but I'm trying to work with Moses so I can purchase a new vehicle but they won't call me back and i feel like its because they know something is defective. The engine had a Regen done before i purchased it and now all of a sudden the cars engine is Done. Now when this happened the battery got so hot my car started smoking we originally thought it was the starter. Because when it stopped working we were at a Toll booth and pressed the break and the stop start kicked the engine off and it never came back on. Even now if you try to start it the battery gets hot and the starter smokes. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On september 4, 2018 I was getting on the highway when my steering wheel locked up and I hit a concrete barrier. The officer could not turn my steering wheel and the repair estimate guy said that when operating the vehicle to test the steering the power would come and go. The steering would be soft and when trying to turn, the steering would become difficult to operate. Most of the reviews that I read have the same issue but their models are older than mine. My acadia is a 2015 when is this safety hazard going to be corrected? It has been 8 years (2007) since this steering malfunction was discovered and my vehicle was put into production and gmc is still putting people at risk with their continued use of the same steering design, materials, assembly or whatever it is that causes this malfunction. Something needs to change in order to keep everyone safe

The radio dead out randomly. Which means the back up camera is non working. I wasn’t able to see a stump and hit it. Doesn’t seem safe. Like what would has happened if it was a person instead and they like the stump was in my blind spot while backing up. I feel like this is a safety issue. I have looked it up online and found out this is a common issue with these vehicles
My 2022 Acadia does not go into park at times even though the control button shows that it is in park. On May 15, 2025, I pulled under my carport and put the car in park. As I reached for my purse in the passenger seat, the car started moving forward even though it was in park. It ran through my privacy fence and injured my daughter who happened to be on the other side of the fence. She had some pretty severe bruising and scrapes on her hip, thigh, and upper body. The pain is bad enough, but her arm and shoulder was injured. It continually feels like something running up and down her arm. This is three weeks later and she still has the problem. The horrifying fact is the reality that I could have killed her through no fault of my own. I had the car towed to the dealership because I was afraid to drive it. Of course, the service department said they ran a test through the electrical system and found no problem with it. They brought my car to the front and told me there was nothing wrong with it. In fact they said they had not heard of that kind of problem. When I have to park I find a parking spot that would be least likely to have someone walk in front of it. If I have to park facing anything I will not pull up fully into the parking space so if my possessed car decided to go for a joy ride while in park again, at least someone would have a running chance to stay alive. I consulted the internet trying to find a fix to the problem. What I found was that GM has had the problem
I was driving my 2015 GMC Yukon a light illuminated on the dashboard. I pulled over at a Convenience store. Got my children out of the car. Once out of the vehicle I noticed smoke. Within the matter of 2 mins the truck was engulfed in flames

How we count
Every figure here comes from complaints owners filed with NHTSA — 1,100,006 of them, covering 1,982 models built between 1981 and 2026.
A complaint is an unverified report: someone wrote down what happened to their car. It is not a confirmed defect and not a recall. What makes the volume useful is the pattern — when thousands of owners of the same build describe the same failure, that is a signal no marketing brochure will give you.
Two things we do that the source does not. First, we compute the age of the car at the moment of failure from the incident date and the model year. Second, we group complaints by the first 11 characters of the VIN — the production series — so a bad plant run does not disappear into a model-wide average.
