Consumer was driving 25 mph when another vehicle making a left turn hit the consumer on her left front side, causing the air bag to deploy, and consumer's shirt caught on fire. The consumer was able to put out the fire, but consumer sustained second degree burns. The fire department came out, and they felt the fire started from the air bag

7/26/22 10:23pm on interstate 25 North of Denver mile 249 I was not able to stop and rear ended another vehicle. My air bags did not deploy there were no dash lights indicating any problem with the airbags prior to the accident. My vehicle was not drivable and was towed to H&R Towing in Johnstown, CO. The only inspection so far has been by an Amica Insurance adjuster. My set belt pretensioner held me fast but the crown of my head went forward into the visor area I was dazed. I went by ambulance to MCR hospital in Loveland diagnosed with a concussion. I had other bruises from the seatbelt and hitting my left knee on the dash. The damage to my car begins at the driver’s side headlamp area and radiates across the font of the car to the headlights on the passenger side. The hood was folded back and there is significant damage to all the components in the front part of the engine compartment. I’ve tried to contact Saab cars but no response, they stopped building cars in 2011. I tried GM as well, no response

I was driving at about 15 - 20 mph trying to enter hwy I-75. Upon routine braking,the airbag deployed, causing an accident.after I hit the car in front of me,the second airbag deployed. I am hurt. The vehicle was deemed totalled because the airbags deployed, and taken away

Manufacturer: general motors llc mfr's report date: aug 15, 2012 NHTSA campaign id number: 12V406000 NHTSA action number: ea12004 component: visibility, power window devices and controls was advised in 2015 that the drivers door module was under recall as a fire hazard. It was replaced. The replacement module started on fire. The local dealer blamed 'rain water getting in it.' I ordered a brand new ddm that has never seen the elements or been installed in a car ' and it has the same corrosion that caused my fire! See pic. To add insult to injury the local gmc and chevy dealers both say 'oh that's a saab, we can't program that.' the nearest dealer willing to do this work is zimbrick in madison wisconsin. It's 150 miles away. They're stating they can't do the work a second time under the call. There was nothing wrong with my window switch before they did the recall work, and supposedly the 'superior' fixed part in fact caught on fire. If this was a trailblazer or an envoy they'd do the work but because it's a saab they're being stupid and saying they can't work on saab's. It's the same thing. Bottom line: the recall work does not mitigate the fire hazard and brand new replacement modules have the same corrosion that gm blames on 'water getting into the ddm.' I challenge that narrative and believe all these vehicles may still be a fire hazard

While driving at 11:30 pm on a small (paved) country road with my high beams on, my warning system indicated "left high beam failure. I continued driving and about a minute later I noticed sparks along the left side of the car. I pulled over to see what was wrong and the left head light was in flames. Within 15 minutes the entire front half/engine of the car was in flames and the entire front half of the car essentially burned to the ground

My son just passed his drivers test and we were going home when the car started making noises and then stalled. Smoke was coming out of the car and smelled like burnt rubber. My son luckily was able to get the car to the side (avoided an accident). Lifted hood thought car overheated. I tried starting the car and it sparked and started smoking again. Found out it was the electrical system, ignition discharge module. My car is a 1999 9-5 saab. I found that the 2000's had a recall due to this overheating and could cause a crash. This could of caused an accident

Seat belt repair problem re 2005 saab 9.3 VIN [xxx] purchased dec '04, involved in accident aug '05. No repair parts stocked in usa, therefore ordered from sweden. After seven weeks on order, most repair parts received and repairs finally have been started more than eight weeks since accident. However seat belt repair kit is still on back order. Am advised that saab's original supplier of seat belt units has been discontinued and a new supplier has not been contracted. Seems to me that auto manufacturers should be required to stock safety items and should not be allowed to let supply of safety items lapse without replacement sources, particularly on late model cars (mine is of the current 2005 model year). Att: NHTSA I have a 90 turbo conv and while driving my lower a-arm broke where the weld is. I have heard this to be a problem with 900's that have over 100,000 miles on them but have found no recalls. I was doing 65 mph at the time it broke but if this had been someone else or if I had been going faster you could have lost control of the vehicle, luckily I was able to pull over with minor damage. This failure did not happen in reverse as most people claim.........it happened while moving forward at 65 mph.........this is my concern. If the arm fatigues at the weld stress point and breaks while backing up just imagine how bad the crack must be before this happens. Since the load can't be as great on the arm as it is when at speed and turning this is a real problem that I will investigate further. I will post pic's as soon as I get it back from the shop. I sent this e-mail to saab customer relations and I'm waiting for a response which I will forward. I also posted this on several saab websites. Please if anyone knows of safety recalls for this let me know, also if anyone knows who to contact to report this I would appreciate a contact since this could lead to someone getting hurt or even killed. The contact owns a 2011 Saab 9-4X. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V473000 (Suspension) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the "Check Rear Axle" warning light was illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the recall and informed the contact after speaking with the manufacturer that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000

The contact owns a 2005 Saab 9-2x. The contact stated while attempting to park the vehicle, the control arm fractured. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and was told rubber bushings and rubber control arm links could be worn. The control could just break apart from rust. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired in 2012 under NHTSA campaign number: 11V464000 (Suspension) however, the failure still occurred. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure but offered no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The consumer is still waiting to have the vehicle repaired. The consumer stated after arguing with GM, the appoint was set for July 16, 2021.The consumer stated it was determined to be damage a broken control arm, broken sway bar link, broken sway bar and axle being pulled from the differential. There was a temporary control arm replaced in order for the vehicle to move, but the repairs have not been made for this vehicle. The vehicle will need an alignment and parts replaced upon inspection to see if there is more damage. Than initial inspection showed

2007 saab 9-3 went on fire with driver in it. Car was serviced at massey saab, orlando, flon june 3rd, 2008 (40,000 mile service, electrical repairs, detail, wheel alignment). Vehicle was in mcdonald's drive-through in orlando fl on junction of 535 n and hotel plaza blvd. Engine caught on fire. Manger of mcdonald's (frederico) and I (driver) pushed car away from building and other people. Flames entered cabin while I was in the vehicle steering it. I jumped out just in time, and the whole car went up in flames. There have been records of other saab's having similar fire problems in the past. I would like to have this investigated so other's are not injured in an occurrence like this. I am lucky to be alive. The fire department arrived and extinguished the flames, and informed me how lucky I was that I jumped out, and not brought the car home and parked it in my garage. Otherwise the whole neighborhood would have been affected. I do not have the full VIN b/c the car is completely totaled in fire. The last six numbers are 013430. The vehicle belongs to a fleet company wheels inc. I work for a pharmaceutical company, and this was my company car. Wheels/roche should have all details on the vehicle when you are investigating. The contact owns a 2000 saab 9-5. The contact believes that the ignition discharge module was the cause of her vehicle catching fire. The contact stated that before the fire occurred, the check engine light flashed. The contact's husband was driving when he noticed smoke rising from under the hood. He pulled over and exited the vehicle as it caught fire. The fire department extinguished the fire and the vehicle was towed. A police report was filed. The purchase date and speed were unknown. Burnt exhaust valve in cylinder 1 at only 75000 miles. Had to have the head removed and machined. Mechanic stated that the valve seat was faulty. Dealership would not assist in the repair. Approximate cost was $1800

On and off, there is a very strong odor of fuel in the cabin of the car. Had to drive with the windows open. This has been happening since the weather became very cold

NHTSA id#: 95V068000 recall issued 3/20/95 for manufacturing dates aug 1993 - sep 1994 was determined not to be applicable for my car, [xxx] but it should have applicable because the result of the defect is exactly what happened to my car. Additionally, NHTSA id#: 95vo68000 should have been applicable because NHTSA id#95V066000 issued 3/20/94 for manufacturing dated july 1994 - dec 1994 was applicable. A mistake was made. NHTSA id#: 95V068000 should have included my car because my car rolled from its original parked position after moving the gear into the reverse position and removing the ignition key. My car is totaled. But it was not my fault. It was parked on a flat service in my garage. There is no other damage but I do not want this to be considered "my fault" and I want my deductible. The car was in great shape with new tires and clutch and I wanted to drive it for a few more years. Why wasn't my car included in the recall. An NHTSA research investigator is going to contact me within 48 hours. I just wanted to file this safety complaint if it will help the safety safety of others. For my car it is too late but fortunately no one was hurt. I spoke to latha at the hotline. Sudden acceleration. I have a 2003 saab 9-3 arc, bought on 9/03, around 13,000 miles, yesterday I went to office and stopped in the right position to park in front of the wall, I stepped on brake, push the gear to "p", all of a sudden the engine started "howling", and accelerated to hit the wall, Im pretty sure that's not the human error, 'cause the gear's in park, and my foot stepped on brake( I have more than 20 years driving experience, to park a car is like normal reaction), I walk out the car, there're two short tire burn mark( if Im not stepped on brake, why does it have the burn mark), so I called my car dealer, they towed the car and try to find out the problem, but it come out the result is nothing wrong with the car! I really want to know if there're anybody has the experiences. Im glad that the thing occurred in front of a wall, if it's in front of a store that might cause lives!!!!!*ak Im afraid of driving my saab again; Ill call saab tomorrow to find out if they can do something about it? The tracation control goes on and off unrelated to any road conditions. The engine cannot be adequately controlled nor the engagement of the transmission is smooth enough for maintaining control of the road. It is an accident waiting to happen, which it almost did several times

The engine lost total compression due to what the mechanic said was a well-documented case of intake valve failure, happened in northern california. The engine cut out while I was in traffic on the freeway, the car stopped, and the car was grazed from behind. Not much of a problem due to damage, just a quick re-paint of the back bumper, and paid out of pocket. The engine was gone. The saab specialist told me that so many 9-3's,especially on the east coast, have experienced total intake valve failure like mine. I contacted saab and they essentially said to go screw myself. Saab and a subsequent call to gm claimed they had "never heard of the issue" which my mechanic specialist said was a "bold lie" because there's an online history of this that I found, and they denied me any help in getting it fixed. Since the car was worth more than the $2,900 cost I had to pay to have the engine rebuilt, with the same faulty valves that will cause someone else trouble later as I traded in my car, I decided to repair it, and then get $1,200 more out of it once I traded in my car. You need to investigate this. It is not fair to owners who are out of pocket. There was a safety concern with my incident. If the car behind me had not been aware once the freeway started moving again, I could have been hurt. Saab and gm deny this, yet search google---"intake valve problems saab 9-3" and you'll see for yourself. Make gm pay for this. People have lost a ton of money on depreciation alon
