Service Brakes, Hydraulic 2 Read
What's wrong. Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. Brake and clutch fluid reservoir hoses may not be resistant to brake fluid, which could cause failure of the hoses
Risk. Should a hose failure occur, the brake failure light would light up, followed by loss of vehicle braking efficiency
Fix. Dealers will inspect the hoses and, if required, install new hoses that are resistant to brake fluid
What's wrong. Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The ABS (anti-lock braking system)/asr (traction control system) electronic control unit is affected by an error in production by the supplier
Risk. The ABS feature may not function and could cause the brake failure warning light to illuminate. Also, the electronic brake force distribution feature would not function causing vehicle instability under very hard braking
Fix. Dealers will replace the ABS/asr electronic control unit
Steering 1 Read
What's wrong. On certain vehicles, an oil leak in the hydraulic steering delivery pipe from the pump to the steering rack may occur which could lead to a gradual reduction of the assisted steering function
Risk. Such circumstances could lead to loss of vehicle control and could result in a crash
Fix. Dealers will replace the steering delivery hoses from the pump to the steering rack. Owner notification began on june 30, 2004. Owners should contact ferrari on 201-816-2651
Electrical System 1 Read
What's wrong. On certain passenger vehicles, the engine ground strap was manufactured improperly. As a result of the improper "crimping" of the ground strap connectors to the braided ground strap, the engine ground strap may not provide the proper electrical ground between the engine and the chassis
Risk. If the strap fails to provide the proper ground to the chassis, the electrical system will seek a ground at the ignition coil. The vehicle's ignition coil ground cable could overheat and could cause the engine to stop. If the engine stopped while the vehicle was being driven, it could increase the risk of a crash
Fix. Dealers will inspect the existing engine ground strap and, if necessary, replace the strap with a new one which has the proper connector crimping. Owner notification began april 15, 2002. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a…
Power Train 1 Read
What's wrong. Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The starter ring gear, which is attached to the clutch assembly with three mounting screws, could become separated from the clutch assembly. This possible failure could be caused by (1) the fracture of the starter ring gear itself at the mounting holes due to an incorrect positioning of the mounting holes, or (2) by the failure of the mounting screws. If either of these conditions would occur, the result would be fragments of the starter ring gear being thrown from the clutch area
Risk. If these fragments came into contact with the vehicle's tire, a puncture could occur resulting in loss of vehicle control
Fix. Dealers will (1) replace the starter ring gear mounting screws and measuring the starter ring gear mounting holes. The measurement of the starter ring gear will determine if the correct position of the mounting holes exists and if the position is incorrect, the starter ring gear will also be replaced; or (2) replace…

What's wrong. Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. A software programming error exists in the integrated electronic instrument cluster. This error exists in the brake system warning light monitoring function of the instrument cluster. The red electronic brake distribution warning light does not illuminate
Risk. As a result, if a brake problem were to exist, the driver would not be aware of it
Fix. Dealers will remove the instrument cluster from the vehicle and download updated software into the instrument cluster. Owner notification began march 31, 2001. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should…
Air Bags 1 Read
What's wrong. Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The mounting of the air bag electronic control unit (ECU) may not be suited for long term reliability. If left unchanged, the mounting could become weak and the ability of the air bag ECU to sense a crash would be impaired
Risk. If a crash should occur, the air bag may not deploy as expected
Fix. Dealers will install longer screws, which ensure better tightening and securing of the ECU to the body element
How long a defect stays unadmitted
Campaign numbers encode the year of the announcement, so each recall on this model can be dated against the car it applies to.
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Average gap before admission | 1 years |
| Slowest campaign | 2 years |
| Admitted 5+ years later | —% |
| Campaigns on record | 7 |
Which 360 Modena years were recalled most
Campaigns per model year. A year with more campaigns is not automatically worse — it may simply have sold in far greater numbers.
| Model year | Campaigns | Most recalled system |
|---|---|---|
| 2003 | Steering | |
| 2001 | Electrical System | |
| 2000 | Power Train | |
| 1999 | Service Brakes, Hydraulic |

Frequently asked questions
How many recalls does the Ferrari 360 Modena have?
7 NHTSA campaigns on record, covering 1999–2003. Not every campaign applies to every car — coverage is by production range, so check your VIN.
Is recall work free?
Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer regardless of the car's age, mileage or how many owners it has had. That is a federal requirement, not a courtesy.
How do I know if my 360 Modena still has an open recall?
Enter its VIN above. We show campaigns that apply to that exact vehicle and whether the repair has already been recorded as done.
Why did a defect take years to be recalled?
On this model the average gap between the car being built and the defect being admitted is 1 years, and the slowest campaign came 2 years later. Defects usually surface as they accumulate in the field: complaints pile up, an investigation opens, and only then is a campaign issued.
