How to read a Fisker Ocean VIN — every digit explained
Every Fisker Ocean carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. Tells you it's a Fisker and the country it was built in.
- VDS (4–8) — model, body style, engine, trim & restraints. The 8th digit is the engine code.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built (e.g. R = 2024, S = 2025).
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this Ocean.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your Ocean VIN
- Dashboard — driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside.
- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.
- Paperwork — vehicle registration, title and insurance card.
- Engine bay & frame — stamped on the firewall or chassis on many models.

It has lots of faults in it. . 1. I got only one key( sometime works sometimes not), It asks for the key to put on NFS reader several times. 2. Transmission problem( it is so irritating when have an emergency to go somewhere and car doesn't gets starts, unable to do gear shifting . Sometimes while driving, especially standing in the traffic areas or red lights, the gear has turned into P mode automatically, then it's hard to turn it back on D mode. People honks . 3. ABS (while driving , sometimes it stops automatically . I'm at the highest danger when cars are coming from behind on speed and my car stops instantly. 4. Hazardous signs( Many hazardous lights coming on screen without any reason) the car starts making noises .. 5. Tires (Bridgestone tires were their on my car when I bought it, it runs only 30-31000 and gone flat, no warranty is covered? Usually Bridgestone runs 80000 kms on other electric cars. Also, there is a tire pressure sign coming continuously from a year without any reason. I went CHK the tire many times and then I needed to change the tires, those are really expensive ( $2500). 6. Tailgate( Car doesn't let me pull out the tailgate ) errors showing on the screen as a malfunction in tailgate 7. Fisker app( it does not work properly, it doesn't let me lock , unlock ,start , shut the car off) also says missing your noble key. 8. Door handles( it has sensor problems, sometimes it doesn't work . I have to struggle a lot to open the car sometimes. Driver side door handle is cracked while driving without even touching the handle. The back door handle is permanently in .. I have to open the back door from inside. 9. Tools ( No basic tools were in the car like Jack, tool kit, charger , tire inflator etc. Hope you can take the actions on the requested problems. Thanks
My car was scheduled the first week of the updates. The car would not update. Afterward, the batter drain was very noticeable. Now there is no internet service for the car... not from Fisker and while I can verify it connects to my home wifi and mobile phone hotspot, it will not allow data to the car. I took this to a dealer to have the water pump replaced, the car updated, the 12v batter replaced, the t-box reset and the door handle inserts replaced. They were unable to repair the drivers door handle (the LED lights actually generate smoke) and I cannot use the NFC to enter the car. Additionally, one day while charging the vehicle, all of the door handles retracted when I closed the door and the key was in the car. Thankfully the rear hatch was not locked because my DOG WAS INSIDE! This car is dangerous and no one is helping!
Vehicle was on software version 2.0 which solely contributed to this problem. I had a front passenger tire have a catastrophic failure and blow out on me while driving, this causes the car to pull hard to the right, into a concrete wall. Compounding this problem was I let off the throttle and the regen braking never kicked in to slow the car down. Software version 2.0 was known to be flawed and cause excessive tire wear and regen braking issues, which is what I believe happened. The result of the crash was minor cosmetic flaws, but due to the inability to gather parts the insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. There have been several other occurrences of this happening and I believe the car is a serious safety hazard to those who drive it and others on the road.
Reported faults with vehicles resulting in unintended reverse movement and an inability to move forward while in drive on a slight slope. Car would roll back even when the accelerator was nearly floored on a slight incline. Car was rolling backwards towards the edge of a cliff on a very narrow road despite multiple attempts of accelerating in drive. Reported and logged with company. Numerous counts of braking failure (unreliable regenerative breaking). Regen braking would give out unexpectedly multiple times even after software updates that were claimed by Fisker to fix the issue. This drastically impacts the braking ability of the car, safety and reliability. Regen braking inconsistencies and automatic emergency braking faults continued to occur. Aforementioned vehicle failures resulted in collision damage at low speed resulting in car being "totaled" in part due to lack of parts/service infrastructure.
Today, I had to slam on my breaks on the freeway. Luckily I was able to stop in time. However the Fisker completely shut off, flashed every warning light imaginable and wouldn’t respond. I sat diagonally in the middle of a 6 lane freeway and for 5 straight minutes the car wouldn’t work. I finally got the car to turn on but it wouldn’t switch to drive, it was stuck on park or neutral. I had to turn off the car, lock it, unlock it and then the car responded. It was very scary. The 2nd was last weekend I had my car in the garage plugged in for 7 days and it didn’t get driven. When I returned I got in the car to drive and the battery was at full charge. While I was driving to work the battery was dropping several % a minute. After 20 miles of driving I had 9% of battery and pulled into a charging area unable to get to work. I ended up charging the Fisker and it went back to normal. While driving I never got any notices/alerts/warnings, the battery never adjusted, it just kept falling. It was very stressful, nerve racking and scary thinking this could happen at any time or any moment. I can’t imagine driving my Fisker outside the city area. Also having the same braking issues where it shudders forward. I've had to drastically change lanes because of the brakes not fully engaging. My driver side mirror was making a loud screeching noise while opening and its stopped working altogether. The bluetooth doesnt work for the music or phone as well. I have messaged Fisker customer service over 20 times and they continue to ignore me.
On 12/4/23, I parked the vehicle in my garage after driving approximately 40 miles. A strong burning plastic smell was present upon exiting my vehicle. Smell was not apparent in my vehicle. Contacted Fisker that day and told to not drive it except to move it out of my garage away from home and told tech will be contact me that day or next. Created online service ticket on 12/6/23 after no contact by Fisker. On 12/8/23, Fisker contacted me about ADAS faults and updated rep on burning plastic smell. Rep noted file was not updated with this info. Rep indicated she would create ticket and I should hear from them shortly. No response ever received.
The car is generating a random left turn signal error stating the bulb is out. However, on inspection it appears that all bulbs are working. The car makes a fast blinker warning sound as well as notification. This has been happening for a couple of months but happened again yesterday.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V466000 (Structure), 24V499000 (Electrical System), 24V623000 (Service Brakes, Electric), 24V865000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, AutoHold Brake System/Brake Hold), 24V405000 (Electrical System) and 24V404000 (Electrical System). The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unsuccessful since the company had filed for bankruptcy and was no longer in business. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. A mobile mechanic diagnosed the vehicle at the residence. The mechanic determined that the main battery had failed, and there was no communication from the battery. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,598.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean One. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware of an abnormal coolant burning odor. The contact had received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V499000 (Electrical System), 24V466000 (Structure), and 24V623000 (Service Brakes, Electric). The contact stated that the unrepaired recalls could be performed because the manufacturer was no longer in business. The contact sent an email to the [XXX] , which was the point of contact; however, no correspondence was received within the past three months. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000. While driving southbound on I-95 from Washington, DC to toward Richmond, on a stretch of the highway with three lanes and a constant flow of traffic across all lanes, the driver ahead of me swerved to avoid two cars ahead of her who had stopped for unknown reasons. I saw her tail lights light up and then almost immediately watched her swerve only to see the practically parked cars in my lane (left-most). At this point my following distance was greatly reduced. I immediately stepped on the brake which vibrated and felt more plastic rather than elastic (which had happened a couple of times before at low maneuvering speeds but still applying braking force). With cold weather and slight rain at 9:50am ET, the car practically slid and I did not feel ABS engaging. It was as if the tires seized up. The car is supposed to have a full suite of ADAS features and Automatic Emergency Braking was supposed to be available from mid-2023 (whereas other features are allegedly delayed until later in the year). To say I was disappointed with the car's handling of this situation would be an understatement. 5,000 of these vehicles have been delivered across the world and about 3,000 to 4,000 in the US. Several others have reported issues/experiences like mine online. This car is simply not safe until the software has been rectified. We were led to believe that just infotainment and miscellaneous system software was lacking but clearly this is affecting critical safety systems. Another system known to work intermittently are the cameras. If that includes the radars/cameras in charge of safety features, that means those features also only work intermittently. The accident was low-speed and low-impact and two occupants (1 adult, 1 child) in the Fisker Ocean appear to be OK. The driver/sole occupant of the other vehicle initially reported she was OK and did not require a police report or medical attention but according to my insurance agency has since changed her claim to one of "injury".

NO Recall work performed on my car. Received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V499000 & Recall TSB10032403. NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V623000 (Service Brakes, Electric) Fisker Inc has gone out of business. A mandatory recall has been issued and the bankruptcy court has assigned a trustee to ensure vehicles are updated to version 2.2 to address safety recall issues. The update to 2.2 has been extremely unpredictable and the trustee has not been able to complete this recall. I spent #300 for replace the water pump and another $200 for diagnostic work and there is no fix at the moment for the electric issues with the car (especially ADAS and blind spot) however the trustee is still responsible for rolling out this buggy software and possibly damaging more cars with each remote installation.
My concern relates to the recall campaign for 24V623000 reduction in regenerative braking. The slow roll out of this campaign caused this unrepaired recall to result in a crash of the vehicle resulting in a complete loss. While driving on a highway in subzero temperatures, the driver let off the accelerator to slow the vehicle around a corner. At this point the vehicle lost the expected braking and began to lose control. This sent the vehicle to understeer and toward oncoming traffic. An attempt to correct sent the vehicle out of control and into a collision with barriers, spinning across the road with the rear door on the driver's side completely ripped from the body. While the driver was not hurt, it is quite possible that a passenger could have been thrown from the vehicle and seriously injured. This is an obvious serious safety risk to not only the occupants of the car, but such loss of control could have resulted in death or serious injury without emergency corrective action and frankly a little luck. It is particularly concerning that very few of these recalls have apparently been addressed. It has been shared that fewer than 10% of the public vehicles have had this issue addressed, months after the recall was announced. I feel that had this issue been addressed in a timely manner this incident would not have occurred and I fear for others that might find themselves in a similar perilous situation.
I was scheduled to receive the 2.2 software update November 12 and noticed a low voltage battery warning some time earlier in the day, November 11 - this is not the main battery, as it was charged around 70%. Was this related to the download maybe? From reading threads, the best way to charge is to drive, so I went for a drive through local parks for about 30 minutes. Fast forward to later that night and I was driving home and received the warning again, but this time in a more critical fashion (beeps, red caution blinking, etc) and then a couple seconds later while turning on a bend the car totally shut down, the wheel locked up, breaks activated in full and I slid straight into the curb and got a flat tire and broke the wheel on the axel. Thankfully I was alone and was not hurt, and only going about 20 mph, but it could have been a lot worse. The car has not been online since as I haven't had time to charge the 12 volt, and the main battery will not charge because the cabin does not have power. Any advice on how to file a complaint, or next steps? I would love to be able to prove this with the logs or events within the car computer if I was ever able to power it back on again. At this point, the vehicle is a death trap.

The regenerative braking is not occurring once removing the foot from accelerator, when driving over uneven or bumpy surface. In fact the car accelerates on it's own which several times lead to collision.
I was merging on to Interstate 5 when the vehicle in front stopped very hard to avoid hitting construction equipment that had likely fallen off a truck. I was not able to stop the car in time as the brakes seemed to not be effective. The collision warning braking system did not activate. The airbags did not activate which surprised the Highway Patrol and collision center personnel.

My new car Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking doesn’t work when there is car infornt of my vechicle and meet with the accident. both Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking is not happen during this incidence.
I was driving on [XXX] in the Dallas area when the parking brake suddenly and unexpectedly engaged. I tried to disengage it manually using the button to the left of the steering wheel, but it would not disengage. Due to the higher speed of being on a state highway, the vehicle quickly became unstable and within a few seconds the brakes locked up and I went into a spin crossing two lanes in the process. I was lucky that no other vehicles were in the path of travel and I eventually came to a stop pointing the wrong way on a 6 lane highway. Even after coming to a stop I could not disengage the parking brake. I forced the car to drive with the brake engaged and I pulled off the road and got out of the vehicle. Smoke was pouring from the braking system and upon inspection of the wheels, both rear wheels were on fire (which I took video of). I tried calling the Fisker support line to get some help, but was informed that the app was also not working and I would need to submit a ticket, which I did (case [XXX]). Eventually the flames died out and I was able to get back into the car and “carefully” drive it home. This was not the first time the Software in the Vehicle malfunctioned, but it was the first time that I felt at risk of being harmed. I am no longer driving the vehicle as I am concerned about its safety. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
FORMAL DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD COMPLAINT TO: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE, West Building Washington, DC 20590 DATE: May 17, 2026 SUBJECT: Urgent Request for Recall Investigation: Systemic Cloud-Dependency, Hypervisor Power Management Failures, QNX Boot-Looping/Blackouts, Unix Epoch Clock Drifting, High-Voltage Contactor Thermal/Fire Hazards, and Core Low-Voltage Module Malfunctions via Telematics Disconnection in the Fisker Ocean Fleet 1. Executive Summary This petition requests an immediate, systemic safety defect investigation into the software architecture, operating system stability, power management, and network subsystems of the Fisker Ocean vehicle fleet (Model Years 2023–2024). Following the liquidation bankruptcy of Fisker Inc. and its affiliates—under Case No.XXX (XXX) in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, overseen by Judge [XXX] —the vehicle's intellectual property, cloud infrastructure, and over-the-air (OTA) software management assets were assumed by a commercial entity, American Lease, and its vehicle management arm (OV Loop/Ocean Loop). Due to the subsequent imposition of a predatory $499/year subscription paywall, thousands of retail owners have been cut off from cloud connectivity. While a missing cloud connection in a standard passenger car traditionally results in a benign loss of convenience features, in the Fisker Ocean's "software-defined" architecture, it triggers a severe, un-throttled software failure loop. This architectural defect forces safety-critical operating systems into permanent boot loops, pins CPU utilization, drops the system clock into a broken chronological state, and drives an aggressive parasitic drain on the 12V battery system. This directly leads to cascade control module failures, key fob inoperability, and accelerated mechanical degradation of high-voltage components, introducing an acute INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I had the vehicle updated to version 2.3.3 by a technician because my car would not update OTA. I thought this update would resolve the ADAS problems as well as the breaking problems. However, on three separate occasions my vehicle has come to an abrupt stop with automatic breaking when approaching a redlight / intersection with no other vehicles in front of me. This occurred while manually applying the break and then the car just took over. There were no forward collision warnings, rather the car was automatically forced to shuttering stop. An alert appears that the brake system has malfunctioned followed by both LED screens turning off and on. The break malfunction error appears several times. Eventually, the screens will restart and then when you try to put the car into gear a gear shift error appears and the car will not go into gear leaving me stranded in traffic. On one occasion these errors appeared when the car started up in a parking lot. These events are unpredictable and not tied to any visible obstacle. The vehicle cannot reliably receive over-the-air software updates due to persistent connectivity failure as I have tried updated to SW Version 2.5. As a result, both the past federally mandated safety recall remedies could not be delivered not any future updates. I have personally paid out of pocket for recall-related repairs and have not been reimbursed. I have not been contacted regarding replacement of recalled exterior door handles. Break and/or shift errors have occurred on May 28, 2025, Sept 3, 2025, Dec 3, 2055, Jan 9, 15, and 21 2026.

2023 Fisker SUV Door Handle Malfunction, I am submitting this complaint regarding a critical safety issue with my 2023 Fisker SUV involving the interior and exterior door handles failing to open. This malfunction has resulted in passengers, including myself, being locked inside the vehicle, unable to exit manually or from the outside. Details of the Issue: Component Failure: The door handles fail to operate, preventing entry and exit. - Safety Risk: This poses a serious safety hazard, as occupants are trapped inside the vehicle, risking harm in an emergency situation. - Reproduction/Inspection: The issue has occurred multiple times and is not an isolated incident. I am requesting an official investigation to determine whether this defect is widespread. - Warning Signs: No warning lamps or alerts appeared before the failure. Given the life-threatening nature of this defect, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue thoroughly and ensure appropriate safety measures are taken. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise on any necessary next steps.
I’m contacting NHTSA to let you know that I have an open recalls that I am trying to get performed. I would like to know how to get reimbursed for the ace recalls for my vehicle as it is crucial to get done ASAP. The issue I have with a car with only 200 miles is that the door handles don’t open properly and the air condition Vents are not opening properly and there were numerous recalls that I would like to get performed and I’m not sure how to go about that with reimbursements . I am also having numerous lights on my dashboard for safety going on and off.
THE SCREEN SHOW: " RADAR FAULT" Some features limited or unavailable. The warning light, the side mirrors do not appear. Also the approaching signals of another vehicle.

Recall campaign # 24V865000 (Roll away OTA- 2.0) OTA updated on 7/1/2024 after the the updated the V12 battery was dead and our car was bricked for 6 months and it cost us $1,400 to unbrick and part replacement and our Fisker technician told us our car has drive unit software discrepancies therefore it can't take any software update until it fix On 2/26/2025 American Lease Company pushing over OTA update (recall #24V865000 - Regen Braking OTA 2.2) and again our car is bricked, to unbricked it cost us another $800 and have to replace V12 battery for $300. As of today 5/3/2025 our car is still on OTA 2.1, therefore the recall OTA 2.2 will not get update until we get the drive motor software issue fix.

I have noticed a number of times that when I push the stalk on the Fisker, which is supposed to move it from Drive to Park, that it has gone from Drive to Neutral. I have caught this happening probably 6 or so times in the 150 drives I have taken in the last two months. The solution has normally been that I take my foot off the brake and notice the car rolling backwards before getting out, put my foot back on the brake and then put it in park. On 12-12, I was in a bit of a rush, undid my seatbelt, grabbed my bag off the seat and then opened the door and got out. Within a split second, I was slammed by the door, rolled under the door and was knocked to the ground. The car continued to roll. I was able to get up, jump in the car, and stop it before it hit another car, but it just as easily could have been a person.
I was driving the car and it suddenly lost all power and created hazards situation in the middle of the road. The car stalled, luckily there were not much traffic and I was able to stop and after a while it regained some power so I was able to drive the car back home.
American Lease and Management (AL) company acquired fleet of Fisker Ocean vehicles with a commitment to push Software Updates Over The Air (OTA) to all the Fisker Ocean Vehicles sold by Fisker. AL pushed the update to software on Fisker vehicles (including mine) very irresponsibly and as a result my vehicle is undrivable (Bricked). AL is very hard to reach, their phone number don't work. For me to get a Technician to the location where my vehicle is bricked and manually update the software to unbrick it, would cost me thousands of dollars. This should not havd happened in the first place, but because of AL negligence and lack of responsibility, there are many cars out there that are in same situation as mine is now.
There was a safety over the air update which happened on Feb 13 2025. After that the vehicle is completely unoperable. After the NHSTA mandated update the car does not shift from Neutral to drivable gear. It's become a brick.
I am writing to report an issue with my vehicle that occurred during an unannounced over-the-air software update. The update bricked the vehicle, locking the steering and wheels and immobilizing the car. The PKC unit failed during the update, and the resulting tow truck and repair costs exceeded $3,000. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter as soon as possible. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received an unknown recall notification. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unsuccessful since the company had filed for bankruptcy protection and was no longer in business. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle shuddered violently and stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact merged to the left side of the road. A mobile mechanic diagnosed the vehicle at the residence. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with vehicle control unit (VCU) corruption, drive train corruption, and software corruption. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred after driving 200 ft. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that a field technician would be sent to perform the vehicle control unit (VCU), drive train, and software updates. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
American Leasing retains control of the FAST Diagnostic System system software used by the few remaining Fisker Service Technicians. FAST allows technicians to upgrade firmware in various components in the car. Some are related to current recalls on braking, electric motor controls, as well as modules related to ADAS system not completed by Fisker; yet, system which generates numerous "alarms" while driving creating a distracted driving nightmare especially during poor weather conditions. Without this "OEM" service tool, service techs have a difficult time installing updates, resetting components, or diagnosing failed parts. It is one of the few lifelines available for single vehicle owners to continue to operate our Fisker's safely. American Leasing is price gouging non-American Lease service technicians for access to this tool to service the approximate 4,000 vehicles bought in the open market prior to bankruptcy. They know it is our service technicians only complete diagnostic tool and are greedily preventing our folks from access.
The software on the vehicle appears to have been updated without my permission or knowledge. 1) Now my doors will no longer lock or unlock from the interior control panel ... which means that the vehicle cannot drive as I am unable to let people into the vehicle due to how the door/door handles function. The door handles used to protrude out of the door when the vehicle was unlocked. Since the interior control panel on the driver's door no longer functions and the doors automatically lock when driving, I am unable to unlock the doors to let people in while driving. 2) I am not longer able to roll down, or up, any windows from the driver's control panel. All windows are permanently closed and cannot be opened or closed from the driver's door control panel.

The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V499000 (Electrical System) and 24V466000 (Structure); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that after the manufacturer went bankrupt, the court ordered the Trustee of the manufacturer, Indigo, to complete the recall repairs; however, Indigo was contacted several times but had failed to arrange for the recall repairs. Additionally, the contact stated that after the recall repairs of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V865000 (Services Brakes, Hydraulic; AutoHold Brake System/Brake Hold), 24V623000 (Service Brakes, Electric), 24V405000 (Electrical System), and 24V404000 (Electrical system) were performed over-the air, the vehicle experienced electrical failures. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to unlock and experienced complete loss of electrical power. The contact purchased a battery from Advance Auto and replaced the 12-Volt battery; however, the failure persisted. A mobile technician from Ocean Repair and Services LLC was contacted and arrived at the residence. The technician reprogrammed several modules, and the vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense. The contact later emailed Fisker’s Trustee, Indigo, via email at [email protected] for reimbursement and was advised that the reimbursement claim was denied because the electrical failures were not related to the recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

My door handle on driver side will not open from Inside. Critical Safety hazard. There is a Recall notice, however I have attempted to reach out to Fisker and no response. This is a critical safety issue
If the door handles are in the unlocked position when 12 volt power is lost to the door handles, the handles do not open, potentially trapping occupants inside the vehicle.

Thanks
There is an outstanding water pump recall on my vehicle. It has never been addressed and has never been fixed. The vehicle can lose power at any given time and is not drivable. The cars electrical system does not work properly. It is always triggering false alarms. The emergency braking brakes for unknown reasons. The blind spot cameras and notifications always switch off for no apparent reason. There are warning messages that come on and off and are unreliable to warn of an actual problem.
I was driving the car and it suddenly lost all power and created hazards situation in the middle of the road. The car stalled, luckily there were not much traffic and I was able to stop and after a while it regained some power so I was able to drive the car back home.
I have 2 complaints. 1. Driving the car into the sunrise or sunset, the car generates ADAS alerts stating imminent accident, and to stop. Stopping in the heavy traffic, as the warnings told us is a safety hazard! This happened twice when driving on [XXX] in Costa Mesa, CA at [XXX] in February and March 2025. At that time, we are basically driving into the bright sunlight. Traffic was heavy with lots of stop and go between 0 mph and 30 mph. I kept at least 3-5 car distances, yet the ADAS alerts kept going off for several minutes. 2. After the latest 2.2 upgrade, our real-world range dropped from 340 miles to 280 miles. The car is supposed to be rated for 360 miles. I've had much better range before the 2.2 upgrade driving from San Diego to Los Angeles, as well as from San Diego to Central California Coast. The massive reduction in range is partly a safety hazard, as we can get stranded if we don't plan ahead to account for this bug. The bug is believed to be programming to the rear drive motor. Excess current to the motor can lead to overheating and potentially cause a fire, which is another safety hazard. Fisker Ocean owners have a safety recall regarding sudden "acceleration" when the regen brake suddenly stop working that require a software update which they have consistently failed to install remotely. Today I drove 7 hours to have someone install it on-site and they said that "American lease" blocked their access to the FAST diagnostic tool which is blocking th from installing my recall. This is unacceptable. American lease is doing a bait and switch asking dealers to pay a $6k fee out of the blue to keep access to the tool and dealers are deciding not to pay which blocks our safety recall. I can't pay and have it installed.

The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
The car stopped working, is now bricked in my garage. 3 different techs came to check it and all said the car gives them weird codes. One of the techs said the front unit motor needs to be replaced which will end up costing almost $8k. but it is not guaranteed that will fix the car. This is insane. I do not know what to do, as we paid cash for it with our savings and now had to lease another car to be able to get to work.
I received a recall notice number 24V499 regarding a faulty cabin electric water pump that can cause the car to go into limp mode which limits its speed to 10-20 mph. This happened to me on a 55mph road. I have not heard how or when this electric water pump will be replaced. The recall says “Fisker will replace the cabin electric water pumps on affected customer vehicles with a new pump…”

The vehicle accelerates on its own when I try to slow down at traffic lights and turns. Almost hitting pedestrians and cars in front of me. The lights in the back seat turn on while driving indicating to the police that I’m doing more than driving in the car The body parts so low quality the door handles are brittle and breaking. They cut my fingers and my kids fingers when we were opening and closing the doors. This car is more than hazardous, it’s highly dangerous to be certified for roads.
Our Fisker Ocean is occasionally having an issue when a passenger is sitting in the rear driver side or middle seat. It seems like something related to the seat sensor causes the computer to freeze or get bogged down. When it occurs, the symptoms include: -The yellow front collision and lane change ADAS warnings pop up simultaneously -Cruise control shuts off -Speedometer freezes -Blinkers don’t work (which also means hazard lights don’t) -Regen turns off but braking still works -Tomtom stops tracking the car accurately -Radio freezes -There may be other systems affected that we haven't noticed. A bit of experimentation with the passengers we were able to figure out workarounds. Lifting themselves off the seat all the issues would resolve pretty much immediately. Leaning the seat back down and then putting it back up almost always took care of the issue and it wouldn’t come back for a while or at all.

The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
To Whom It May Concern, I am filing an urgent safety complaint regarding my Fisker Ocean One Launch Edition SUV, which continues to experience braking failures despite the latest software recall update (2.2.2). Fisker has now ceased operations, leaving me and other owners without any ability to have our vehicles tested or repaired. Braking Issue Persists: Despite Fisker’s claim that update 2.2.2 resolves the braking problem, my vehicle continues to exhibit severe braking failures, indicating the issue may be hardware-related. No Service Options Available: Fisker’s shutdown means there is no way to have the vehicle inspected or repaired, posing a significant safety risk to both drivers and pedestrians. Request for Investigation: I urge NHTSA to reopen or expand the recall and investigate whether Fisker vehicles pose an ongoing safety hazard that should trigger additional consumer protections. This is a critical issue that has now occurred on multiple occasions that requires immediate attention, as these vehicles remain on the road without proper testing or repair availability. Brakes: The brake pedal occasionally oscillates while being depressed. This feels like a tickle and causes uncertainty of control while braking. Speed Control: Loss of speed control experienced during abrupt change in road level (in a construction zone). Loss of speed control engaged regenerative braking causing a sharp decrease in vehicle speed and stopping hazard to vehicles behind mine. Blind Spot Warning: Activates often while driving toward rising or setting sun or other very bright lights. Numerous audible and visual indicators from this warning are a distraction while driving and cause heightened awareness and fatigue. Car is available for inspection. No inspection has been initiated at this time. Dealers are not available as Fisker, Inc. is bankrupt. Similar safety incidents and others have been reported on this make and model of vehicle in the Fisker Owners Association forum.
When regenerative braking is engaged and driving over ruff road the braking disengages causing the vehicle to speed out of control.
Pedestrian Warning Sounds Gone I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the ongoing issues that are being seen with the NHTSA recall campaign numbers 24V865000 and 24V623000. Following an attempted OTA software update for the safety recall, I have noticed that the pedestrian alert noises are missing, which poses a significant safety risk not only for those around the car but also for the occupants inside the vehicle. This situation is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the vehicle’s safety features. Moreover, it has come to my attention that a concerning number of owners have reported their vehicles as undrivable following OTA updates, with 2%-5% of vehicles experiencing such issues weekly. The current 48-hour update window renders my car unusable, and now I require another session, an additional 48 hours to complete the update only adds to my frustration. Based on owner surveys, it appears that complete updates, including the correct sounds, have been successfully implemented in less than 30% of vehicles attempted. Given these concerns, I urge you to look into the situation with my vehicle and the entire process. I should not have to pay out of pocket for the safety recall and restored function of pedestrian alert noises, nor the cost of a rental car. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
There has been multiple recalls on this vehicle. I have not received any recall updates. Software updates were to be sent out to fix the braking situation. I continue to be on 2.0 for the last year, and I have had issues with my braking since buying the vehicle over a year ago. I have a braking warning lamp upon starting the car.

Can a Fisker Ocean tow? Towing & payload
As an SUV, the Fisker Ocean is built to tow and haul. The exact maximum towing capacity and payload depend on the engine, drivetrain and whether it has the factory tow package.
What sets your Ocean's tow & payload rating:
- Engine — a larger or turbocharged engine tows more than the base unit.
- Drivetrain & axle — 4WD/AWD and the axle ratio shift the rating.
- Tow package — the factory towing package (hitch, wiring, transmission cooler) raises the max.
- Payload & GVWR — GVWR caps the combined load; more passengers and cargo lower how much you can tow.
Exact towing capacity, payload and GVWR are added per engine, drivetrain and trim — decode your VIN above, or check the driver's door-jamb and hitch labels. Curb weight from vehicle specifications.
