Tesla models average 15 cu ft of boot — roughly 2 checked suitcases. The roomiest holds 15 cu ft, the tightest 15, across 1 measurements.
What actually fits
A translation from cubic feet into luggage, on Tesla's own models, so the numbers below mean something.
| Model | Boot volume | Checked cases | Carry-ons | Pushchair | Measured |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tesla Model S | 4 | 13 | yes | 2026 | |
| Tesla Model X | 4 | 13 | yes | 2016 | |
| Tesla Model 3 | 2 | 7 | yes | 2026 |
Across Tesla the boot averages 15 cu ft, against 15.4 cu ft for every car we measure.

How we count
Cargo and passenger volumes come from EPA interior-volume records — the same figures manufacturers file for the window sticker, measured to a standard method rather than claimed in a brochure.
The luggage counts are ours — computed for all 3 Tesla models below. We assume 80% usable volume, because a boot is not a cube: wheel arches, a sloping tailgate and the shape of the cases themselves waste the rest, so the 15 cu ft Tesla averages becomes 12 cu ft you can actually pack. Suitcase sizes are the airline standards — 22 × 14 × 9″ for carry-on, 27 × 21 × 14″ for checked, and the roomiest Tesla here swallows 2 checked cases. Numbers are deliberately conservative; if we say four cases fit, four cases fit.
