A low average age does not automatically mean a fragile car: a brand with a young fleet on the road will always skew early. Read it next to the share reported inside three years.

On 12/4/23, I parked the vehicle in my garage after driving approximately 40 miles. A strong burning plastic smell was present upon exiting my vehicle. Smell was not apparent in my vehicle. Contacted Fisker that day and told to not drive it except to move it out of my garage away from home and told tech will be contact me that day or next. Created online service ticket on 12/6/23 after no contact by Fisker. On 12/8/23, Fisker contacted me about ADAS faults and updated rep on burning plastic smell. Rep noted file was not updated with this info. Rep indicated she would create ticket and I should hear from them shortly. No response ever received

I paid out of my own pocket for a safety recall, with no evidence I will ever be refunded, and the recall team has un-done my recall update. This is the 2.2 update that was put in place to fix the potential issues with the safety of the vehicle. I do not know what they have undone. I know that my system went from full 2.2 software to 2.2.2 (part2) of the update. I have no idea if they will now update the vehicle back to the safe 2.2 version, as there are zero plans, and the recall team is insisting that this partial update satisfies all the recalls. But the recall documents say 2.2, not a partial update.. God knows if it is even safe to sit in this incomplete configuration. Still no plans to get water pumps and door handles done yet either. I just started calling tech to travel to my area for these services. 10 of us are going to be paying out of pocet for these recalls as well

I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the ongoing issues that are being seen with the NHTSA recall campaign numbers 24V865000 and 24V623000. The experience I had with my Fisker vehicle following the 2.2 Over-the-Air (OTA) update attempt left my vehicle un-driveable from Jun 15 2024 through Oct 26 2024. This had left me in an inconvenient and frustrating situation. As a result, I had to incur additional expenses to have the necessary safety updates completed to restore my vehicle's functionality. This is far from the experience that I expected when signing up for a free mandated safety recall. While my vehicle was functioning fine after this manual update, on April 17th 2025 the OTA team pushed a software update 2.2.2 which seems to have regressed my car to some older version which has made it unstable again. It is draining battery much faster than before and my passenger side door handle won't extend anymore. This is going to require me to get these fixed at an additional cost. Moreover, I've noticed a concerning trend regarding the frequency of issues reported by fellow owners after OTA updates.I urge you to address these issues promptly, putting more vehicles in danger of becoming un-driveable because of the safety recall process being flawed may not be helpful in this current process. Additionally, I would appreciate any assistance you can offer in resolving my current situation and compensating for the expenses incurred due to this inconvenience. Thank

An OTA update got pushed to my car without warning, and for over a month the infotainment screen (which has all info on car, controls, etc) was not working. Car did drive, though. Then, last week, the infotainment panel started working by itself again, but car functions such as lane assist / automatic nudge, collision avoidance function, and auto emergency braking stopped working (to be fair, they may have stopped when the screen went blank initially, but I wasn't paying too much attention and I didn't drive the car very much). There is no fault code or warning. These systems just don't work. Interestingly, the lane departure warning (a light that goes on if there is a car in your blind spot) started working, and it never has before

While driving southbound on I-95 from Washington, DC to toward Richmond, on a stretch of the highway with three lanes and a constant flow of traffic across all lanes, the driver ahead of me swerved to avoid two cars ahead of her who had stopped for unknown reasons. I saw her tail lights light up and then almost immediately watched her swerve only to see the practically parked cars in my lane (left-most). At this point my following distance was greatly reduced. I immediately stepped on the brake which vibrated and felt more plastic rather than elastic (which had happened a couple of times before at low maneuvering speeds but still applying braking force). With cold weather and slight rain at 9:50am ET, the car practically slid and I did not feel ABS engaging. It was as if the tires seized up. The car is supposed to have a full suite of ADAS features and Automatic Emergency Braking was supposed to be available from mid-2023 (whereas other features are allegedly delayed until later in the year). To say I was disappointed with the car's handling of this situation would be an understatement. 5,000 of these vehicles have been delivered across the world and about 3,000 to 4,000 in the US. Several others have reported issues/experiences like mine online. This car is simply not safe until the software has been rectified. We were led to believe that just infotainment and miscellaneous system software was lacking but clearly this is affecting critical safety systems. Another system know

Reported faults with vehicles resulting in unintended reverse movement and an inability to move forward while in drive on a slight slope. Car would roll back even when the accelerator was nearly floored on a slight incline. Car was rolling backwards towards the edge of a cliff on a very narrow road despite multiple attempts of accelerating in drive. Reported and logged with company. Numerous counts of braking failure (unreliable regenerative breaking). Regen braking would give out unexpectedly multiple times even after software updates that were claimed by Fisker to fix the issue. This drastically impacts the braking ability of the car, safety and reliability. Regen braking inconsistencies and automatic emergency braking faults continued to occur. Aforementioned vehicle failures resulted in collision damage at low speed resulting in car being "totaled" in part due to lack of parts/service infrastructure

Ranking by volume says more about how many cars a brand sells than about how they hold up. Age at failure is the fairer of the two.

How we count

Every figure here comes from complaints owners filed with NHTSA — 1,100,006 of them, covering 1,982 models built between 1981 and 2026.

A complaint is an unverified report: someone wrote down what happened to their car. It is not a confirmed defect and not a recall. What makes the volume useful is the pattern — when thousands of owners of the same build describe the same failure, that is a signal no marketing brochure will give you.

Two things we do that the source does not. First, we compute the age of the car at the moment of failure from the incident date and the model year. Second, we group complaints by the first 11 characters of the VIN — the production series — so a bad plant run does not disappear into a model-wide average.
