While driving at 15 mph consumer was involved in a minor collision. Upon impact, front of vehicle caught on fire, melting the wires in engine and electrical system. After inspection of vehicle, it was determined that fire started in turn signal light. Manufacturer has been notified. Please provide additional information

Symptom of problem was the radiator cooling fan staying on after vehicle was turned off, which caused the battery to discharge

94,000 miles 2011 volvo xc90 purchased 4 months ago. Vehicle was parked stationary in driveway. In the middle of the night water intruded the front passenger cabin and dashboard of the vehicle through a sunroof drainagedefect in this year and model of volvo xc90. Six inches of water pooled in the front passenger floor and permeated the dash causing the cem to short and start an electrical fire. The cabin of the vehicle filled with thick smoke from the electrical fire and the car alarm began to go off. The electrical fire began in the driver compartment housing the cem. The cem wires were completely melted away. Multiple electrical systems effected and require replacement plus smoke/fire/water remediation. Per mechanic repairs exceed value of vehicle. Total loss

I was involved in a car accident in bronx, ny on 8/16/2017 that caused severe damage to my 2002 volvo s60. Thankfully, I was the only one in my car. I had just left my last destination, moving slowly and driving straight for a short block or so, when my 2002 volvo s60, with an odometer reading of 45,000 miles, began to accelerate out of nowhere and race - all on its own. I tried braking (foot and hand) but it was too sudden and neither could slow it down. The car accelerated out of my control, jumped the sidewalk and plowed through a fence before coming to a stop. I'm still shaken, thinking of what could have happened, but thankfully there was no one else involved and no one was in front of me or walking by. While this is shocking and surprising to me, I believe this is a known safety malfunction on certain models of volvo cars. I have read that other driver's have complained to the company about a racing/slipping transmission before, which suggests that volvo has been aware of this.for some time. There are so many situations in which this type of malfunction can easily be fatal so I am treating it as an impending disaster for others that needs to be acted on urgently. I am seeking your assistance to investigating this as quickly as possible so that you may have a chance to preserve the car for added testing if necessary. On wednesday, june 8, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., I put my car in park on my driveway. My car was stationary on my driveway when I exited it and went into my garage. When I turned around, my unoccupied car was coming toward me from the driveway into the garage. I was unable to get out of the way of the car and ended up pinned between the left wall of my garage, a recycle can, and the car. Fortunately, the car was rolling into the garage in a straight line, which left just enough space between my body, the car, and the wall; otherwise, I would have been crushed and killed. A large recycle trash can and a ladder stopped the car before it continued straight through the rear garage wall and into my family room where my disabled husband was sitting. A workman on my property, who witnessed the entire event, helped me get out of the space between the wall and car and removed the car from the garage. I must have been in a state of shock from the accident because I cannot remember some details and must have been hit by the car because I still have damage to my left leg and pain in my lower body; also, the car had damage to its left fender. I visited my doctor regarding the injury to my left leg and the pain to the lower part of my body. My husband notified volvo about the incident. The company had the car towed to its facility where it was run through a battery of tests. On june 18 2009 I was driving the car and all the sudden the car just died completely. No accident occurred as I was driving in my subdivision and there were no cars around me. I could imagine there might well be a serious accident involved if I was driving on a busy street or on the highway. In addition to this instance, on may 11, 2009, I experienced a sudden acceleration of the vehicle while I was parking the car. The car accelerated so much as if I was pressing the gas pedal down to the floor. The car then hit the lamp pole in front of the parking spot. The impact was so strong which deployed the air bag and caused a huge damage to the car. I reported the accident to the dealer and also to volvo product investigation department. A field technical specialist was sent out to check the car and I was told that there was no single problem found with the vehicle. The case was then dismissed. I am 100% convinced that there is a serious safety issue with this vehicle and I am very concerned/scared for my life and for the public safety. I could not take the risk of injuring/killing myself or others. I have not been able to get the dealer or the volvo product department to take my cases seriously. Please please help

The dealer later called the contact to inform him that they would repair the failure for free with the exception of the fuel filter, which would cost approximately $100. The recall number was unknown. The failure mileage was 69,361 and current mileage was 69,608

My wife was driving home from a grocery store 3 miles away. A quarter mile from the house she noticed a burning smell. She thought it was from the outside since brush fires are common around south fl. She parked onto our driveway and noticed smoke rising from around the hood. She took the key off of the ignition and the engine kept running. She called the fire department while a neighbor helped and opened the hood. Immediately smoke started billowing and they observed fire in the engine.two fire engines showed up and contained the fire before doing any further damage. Most of the visible damage is between the air intake manifold and the air filter housing. On that drive no warning lights came on, the car radio was working my wife said it was uneventful until the she noticed the smoke. My wife was scared and stressed beyond from what she had to go through. The cars warning system did not work, there was severe failure for this to happen on a 4 yr old car. I called the local volvo dealer and the rep I spoke with was totally unhelpful and did not offer anything. I contacted the volvo customer service and so far I have gotten a couple of emails

Car caught fire without warning as I was driving it. Car had 93,000 and had passed va inspection in august. I pulled over and called 911. By the time the fire department arrived 3 minutes later, entire engine was engulfed in large flames. The temperature gauge never indicated the engine was running hot. Usaa removed the vehicle, and I don't know whether they will inspect it for cause, but I suspect an electrical malfunction

It was close to 9pm. I had exited the freeway to stop in a parking lot to check directions. I had been driving for about an hour, so I got out to walk around and buy a cup of coffee. I came back a few minutes later and drove out of the lot. The on ramp was about 200 yards away and there was a red light at the intersection, so I was only moving at around 20mph. I was the only car in my lane, so about 100 feet away from the intersection I pressed down on my brake pedal, but the for some reason it the car kept rolling. I tried again, but the brakes were no help as I kept rolling. Frantically, I stomped hard, floored the brakes, and my car started to slow down a little, but that time it was too late. I tried to turn to the right to avoid the flow of traffic, but an instant later I had hit an oncoming car. I don't know what went wrong. I am pretty good at maintaining the car and it had been serviced at the volvo dealer fairly recently. It's only garaged about half the time, but I live in southern california so it's never been exposed to an extreme climate or anything. The car triggered a "charging fault" while charging on a trip and will no longer charge on a level-2/AC charger. I was lucky to have enough charge to make it to a DC Fast charger and continue my trip. If I had not been so close to an alternative DC Fast charger this could have left me stranded
