The motor experienced a catastrophic failure causing the rod to blow through the top of the engine, cutting a fuel line and causing a fire. It was later determined and passed to me via unofficial sources that this was due to a manufacturing defect where the incorrect camshaft bearings were used on specific pistons. Via online and first account conversations, it seems this has happened at least 12 other times. Those vehicles which can be found online were complete losses. Via second hand conversations, Porsche technicians said this was the first instance where the fire didn't consume the entire vehicle so they could RCA the problem
My vehicle has camshaft and crankshaft correlation problems due to the well-known problem with its screws and other things. I reported it to Porsche and they told me that it has already been repaired but I don't understand how to fail again and deny help for its repair

During low speed driving (roughly 20mph) in congested highway traffic, I attempted to shift gears on the manual transmission in my 2008 porsche cayenne gts. Upon doing so, the clutch pedal lost all resistance and pinned directly on the floorboard. As I began navigating toward the shoulder, smoke began pouring into the cabin. As I reached the shoulder, the car caught on fire. I escaped unharmed but the entire car burned and was totaled. Porshce has since been exceptionally reluctant to speak with me. This event happened in october (2009). My insurance company (state farm) has subrogated on my behalf and three months later, porsche is still not disclosing the findings of their investigation nor has anyone from porsche been in contact with me since early novemeber. This was a low mileage vehicle (roughly 12,000 miles) and maintenance was performed accordingly to the manufacturer's recommendation. As porsche's first model of their popular family SUV to have a manual transmission - I fear for the safety of other owners and their children

Sunday September 8 I plugged my Taycan into my charger at approxmately 1PM. Later I went into my garage approximately 3PM to get something, and it was filled with smoke. After extinguishing the fire, I noticed the cause was the PLUG attached to the Porsche charger had caurght fire and melted the outlet which then caught my garage wall on fire. Had I not been home, my house would have caught fire

I was involved in an accident October 12, 2021 in which the passenger side of my car was hit. The damage was from the front passenger door to the rear bumper. The total damage to date 02/18/2022 is approximately $25K. In the incident - not one single air bag deployed. I suffered a concussion as I hit my head upon impact. I reported the incident directly to Porsche within 2 weeks of the accident. I was transparent with all information and provided all requested documents to Porsche. However, I was advised in December that their engineers weren't able to inspect the airbags and the car worked as it was supposed to in the accident. Strangely enough - I am still waiting as of today 02/18/2022 for my car repairs to be completed by the body shop. So there was ample time for Porsche to inspect the airbag system - 4 months to be exact. Porsche touts it's safety as a top selling feature and I am yet to receive a resolution to the incident of the airbags not deploying during the accident
I'm submitting this information because I was in a accident and my airbags didn't deploy, taking speed and location of impact into consideration I think the airbag should've deployed, the vehicle that crossed over from the left 3rd lane to make a right turn was luckily hit on rear passenger door of SUV avoiding center pillar and rear tire, however their vehicle airbag did deploy for its front passengers and my passenger EV sports sedan airbags did not. Currently my EV passenger sports sedan hasn't been assessed, it has been towed to Tysons Corner Collision Center in Vienna, VA. I had no airbag failure notices prior to 9/25 accident which occurred on E Market Street and Cardinal Park Drive., Leesburg, VA The claim has been submitted to USAA
Car was struck on left side, just forward of the passenger compartment by a large vehicle traveling approx. 55mph. Car was severely damaged and driver suffered head trauma. Side air bag failed to deploy. No airbags deployed

The contact owns a 2018 Porsche Panamera. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the message "Engine Overheating - Park Vehicle" in red letters was displayed on the instrument cluster. The contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that there was a burning odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, but was not diagnosed; however, the contact was advised by the dealer that the failure could be related to the coolant pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000
The contact owns a 2006 Porsche Cayenne. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to overheat. I was backing my Porsche out of my garage with my foot on the brake. The car backed slowly as expected for a few seconds, then flashed a red display on the dashboard (see attachment) warning of an electric system error. It immediately self-accelerated in reverse at a high rate of speed across the street. The brakes did not work. Within 4-5 seconds it hit my neighbor's house and crashed into a room. I was trapped in the car and had to have the fire department get me out. The video police downloaded from the camera over my garage confirmed my account to them (as written above). I can provide the video if you would like to have it. A DMV examiner told me that about a year prior, around June 2022 an exactly similar accident was referred to him involving a Porsche Taycan accelerating out of control in reverse (see attachment)
Rear axel carrier side section fractured in half. This can lead to loss of control of the vehicle when driving. Recall was issued for some models/years with specific batches, but mine was not included even though it’s the same issue
The CHIME SPEAKER in the failed with less than vehicle 11,000 miles on the odometer. This extremely low mileage indicates that the failure is due to a manufacturing defect rather than standard wear and tear. I am particularly concerned because this is not merely a convenience issue; it is a significant safety concern. The chime speaker is the primary method of delivering audible alerts for: - Turn Signal Indicators: The lack of an audible "click" prevents confirmation that signals are active, which can lead to driver error or unintentional signaling. - Seatbelt Warnings: Critical reminders for passenger safety are now silenced. - System Fault Alerts: Any immediate mechanical or electrical warnings from the vehicle’s diagnostic systems are currently uncommunicated to the driver. - Lane departure warnings. - Collision alerts - Blind spot alerts - Other advanced driving assist and safety systems. The fault has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer (Porsche Tysons Corner). The fault is also confirmed by the vehicles onboard diagnostic and warning system. The dealers proposed fix is to replace the entire instrument cluster at a cost of more than $5000 or turn the repair over to an audio shop in hopes that they can replace remove the instrument cluster and replace the chime speaker with a non-OEM part as the OEM lowest replaceable part is the entire instrument cluster. This is safety issue because very few vehicle owners will be will to spend more than $5000 to repair/repl

I noticed a hesitation when I Pressed the gas pedal, I also noticed the smell of Gasoline when I parked it in my Garage. I had my Certified mechanic look at it and he told me there was a recall on the Fuel sending unit, creating a transfer case failure, apparently the flange breaks and leaks gas. I googled it and it confirms it. I called the local dealer and they have not called me back?
I am submitting this complaint regarding a known safety issue affecting my vehicle. I own a 2017 Porsche [2017 Macan GTS ], and I recently discovered that the fuel pump flange on my car has developed cracks, causing a noticeable fuel odor and potential fuel leakage. This component matches the description of the part listed under NHTSA Recall No. 17V-289 (Porsche Campaign AH06), which addresses the same defect. However, when I contacted Porsche and checked my VIN, I was informed that my vehicle is not included in the recall, despite exhibiting the exact failure described in the recall documentation. This situation raises serious safety concerns, as fuel leaks pose a significant fire hazard. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate why vehicles experiencing the same defect are being excluded from the recall and ensure Porsche extends coverage to all affected vehicles. I am happy to provide photos, repair invoices, and inspection reports upon request. Thank you for your attention to this important safety matter. How we count
Every figure here comes from complaints owners filed with NHTSA — 1,100,006 of them, covering 1,982 models built between 1981 and 2026.
A complaint is an unverified report: someone wrote down what happened to their car. It is not a confirmed defect and not a recall. What makes the volume useful is the pattern — when thousands of owners of the same build describe the same failure, that is a signal no marketing brochure will give you.
Two things we do that the source does not. First, we compute the age of the car at the moment of failure from the incident date and the model year. Second, we group complaints by the first 11 characters of the VIN — the production series — so a bad plant run does not disappear into a model-wide average.
