What's wrong. Gm is recalling 185,903 model year 2004-2009 colorado, gmc model year 2009-2004 canyon, model year 2006 i-280, i-350, model year 2007-2008 i-290, and i-370, passenger vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of alabama, arizona, florida, georgia, hawaii, louisiana, mississippi, nevada, new mexico, puerto rico, south carolina, texas, u.s. Virgin islands and utah. Some of these vehicles have a brake lamp switch that may not work as designed due to contamination in the switch.

Risk. This condition could cause the simultaneous loss of all brake lamps or cause all of the brake lamps to stay on continuously. Both of these conditions could fail to warn others of the driver's intentions and could lead to a vehicle crash.

Fix. Dealers will inspect and replace the necessary components as specified in the recall bulletin free of charge. Gm anticipates that parts will be available by june 2010. A special coverage for vehicles registered in all other states will be implemented in the same time frame. In the interim, owners who experience the failure can obtain a free repair, however they will be required to return when the new design part becomes available. Owners may contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, gmc at 1-866-996-9463, isuzu at 1-800-255-6727 or at www.gmownercenter.com.

2007 i-290

This truck has developed an intermitten starting problem. Ambient temperture seems to have some bearing on the frequency of the occurance, for example when i visited colorodo having much lower temperature than in south texas, i had zero occurances and when i returned to high 80 plus tempuratures the problem has become a daily if not every restart inconvience. Having to wait from 10 to 20 mins. Befor trying to restart the engine. Once started it runs like a top even restarting immediately after accidental clutch dump stall issues. Going to the grocery store in the middle of the day is not an option any more and i hesitate to take passengers or pets anywhere i go. With temperatures approaching the triple didgets it has become a health saftey issue. Trying to remidy this intermittent starting problem i experimented with spraying carb cleaner in the air intake with good results. It starts and dies when the spray is used up. This led me to believe i had a faulty fuel pump which i replaced with original oem parts. The pump was not the problem. Word on the internet is the passlok ii system is at fault and was known at the manufacture before sales of this truck. There must be a way to bypass this problem but i get no help from dealers or mechanics who are only interested in money, not customer satisfaction as advertisements lead one to believe. Selling the vehical is not an option since it is a well known problem and replacing the passlok ii will bring reoccuring problems in another 30,000 miles. My truck just turned 60,000 miles and gets 21 mpg. At any speed.its just now broken in and a constant reminder that i made a bad investment.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 isuzu i-290. The contact noticed that the rear wiring harness was coming apart and caused the speakers, interior lighting, and exterior lighting to malfunction. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 190,000.

2007 i-290

Drivers side door power window and power lock switch is working intermittently and vehicle has a slow battery drain requiring a jump start if it sits for longer than one day. Even one day is questionable for starting without a jump. Door is very warm around the area of the for switch module, indicating a short or other electrical malfunction. Gm has already recalled the suvs (chevy trailblazer, gmc envoy, isuzu ascender) based upon this platform for faulty driver's door switch malfunctions that presented with same intermittent function and internal short circuit. This faulty door switch ultimately caused fires in the suv versions of these vehicles, hopefully the trucks can be recalled/repaired before anyone experiences a fire because of this known issue. *tr

The passlockii system locks out the ignition so it won't start. This was intermittent at first but has become a daily occurrence. The dealer could not duplicate it when we took it to them. This system is faulty and the manufacturer knew it when they made the vehicle because they put a note in the owners manual to let the vehicle sit for 10-15 minutes and try restarting the vehicle. This has gotten ridiculous. The isuzu assistance line basically told us tough [xxx]. If we didn't like it then go to the dealer and pay to fix it. It is a faulty system and we cannot afford thousands of dollars to install a replacement system which will do the same thing over time. I have researched this extensively on the internet and this is a common occurrence on gm vehicles with their passlock ii system. And now the drivers side airbag light is on indicating the airbag doesn't work. Again the isuzu helpline said basically tough [xxx] because we were no longer under warranty. This truck did not start on january 21st of this year when i suffered a heart attack and my wife tried to drive me to the hospital. I spent 5 weeks in the hospital and underwent bypass surgery. She had several times she called me in tears because she could not come to visit because the truck would not start. And now with the whole airbag thing it is unsafe to drive period. I have been out of work since jan 21, 2014 and we barely have money to pay rent and get food. We do not have money to take it to a dealership and pay them to not be able to duplicate the problem or replace a faulty factory system. There are tens of thousands of complaints all over the internet and gm should have to fix this problem. Again they knew of the issue to begin with and just kept selling the crap knowingly defrauding consumers. *tr information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The first time this incident occurred i slowed down to approximately 5 miles an hour, as the vehicle in front of me was turning and my vehicle shut off. I have contacted a general motors dealership and they stated that they are aware of issues where the chevy colorado's and gmc canyon's have timing issues to the point of having a special tool manufactured just for these repairs. However, a safety recall has not been issued. Every time i drive this vehicle it shuts off when slowing down to approximately 5 miles per hour or to a complete stop. My isuzu truck is a general motors product and is the same truck as a chevy colorado and gmc canyon. This is a huge safety concern as the vehicle shuts off involuntarily and general motors is aware of it, to the point where they manufacture their own tool. *tr

I purchased my isuzu i-290 in 2007. When i purchased, months later i refueled my car and it would crank but not turn over. It eventually started. As the years progresses since then the occurs happen more often . It first started out as a one every 5 months occurrence to a twice a week regimen. Or when ever i get gas, the card does not want to start. I can begin to crank it but it doesn't turn over. I have replaced my crank sensor, catalytic converter/exhaust manifold, the problem persist. I have tried searches for others on google with intermittent starting issues like mine, and there are many that are posted. *tr

I took my 2007 isuzu i-290 truck into dealer back in dec. Of 2010 because the reduce power light came on and was only able to drive about 15 miles/hr. While driving or idling the engine would just kill. Still under warranty with approx 68,000 miles, i took it into the dealer for repairs, all they did was change the camshaft actuator. 5 months later, i started experiencing the same issues. Diagnostic readings came back that sensors needed changing. I replaced both sensors but it did not resolve the problem and eventually the engine killed and would not restart. I returned to the dealership in late aug./early sept. 2011 and was told that there were shavings in the engine and would need to be replaced, at my expense. I tried calling the isuzu motors owners relations line and after being on hold for what seemed like forever, all they would do is refer me to a dealer in my area. Also, i filed a claim with the auto bbb who rejected my claim because of the mileage. Which is confusing because the power train warranty was still active when i went in oct. Of 2010. The vehicle was only 3yrs old. I had a new engine put in and just picked up the truck on saturday april 28, 2012. On april 30th, while driving, the check engine light started blinking and the power reduced to 15 miles again and then the truck stalled. The next day the dealer called and said that they are getting at least 15 different diagnostic codes but they all seem to point to the camshaft cranks. Same problem, new engine!!!! *js

2008 isuzu i290 abs brakes kick in at different speeds, sometimes 5-10 mph sometimes faster and abs fault light comes on in message panel of dash. This issue has been looked at by multiple repair locations without resolve. Found out today 6-12-2015 on internet forums that multiple people are having the exact same issue all over the country with 2005-2008 yr lite trucks and in my opinion it is a gm manufacturer defect with colorado, and i290 pickup truck hubs and abs sensors that are defective.
