Oil light keeps coming on suddenly, I looked online and there are many people who have had the same issue. It's only intermittent, and turns off when moving and turns on when idle. The first time it came on was when I was crawling on a first time in forever frozen Alabama road. I was very careful not to start sliding, and when the sign came on I panicked and ended up in a ditch. The safety issue comes from not knowing if this is a sensor issue or an actual oil issue. Most people stated that it was a sensor issue but to replace it, you must access inside of the motor
On Thursday 10/24/2024 I went to use my car which was parked in my garage and although the car was unlocked none of the doors would open. The car was completely dead and I had used it just several days before. Nothing would open doors, trunk no response from the key fob. A tow truck had to be called and the truck dragged the car out of the garage and placed dolly wheels on the front and towed from the rear to a Genesis dealer. My concern this electrical problem locked the car if a child was in the rear the only way to get the child out would be to break a window and then entry through the broken window as well as exit. The included metal key would not open the door and no access to the trunk or under the hood. The doors are electronic and power operated
On April 20th, 2026 I called Genesis of Carmel (Address: [XXX] Phone: [XXX] ) to get a oil change. On the same day I called them I also explained that various warning lights started to appear in the dash (check high beam assist system, check driver attention system, check speed limit system). The next day on the 21st when I wen to t take the car in for service the car would not start. I had to have the car towed to the Genesis dealer listed above. I received no calls from the dealership for 2 weeks. When trying to call their phone it is very hard to get through and strangely they hang up on you once you been transferred to the service department. On May 10th I received a call back from the Genesis delership and they stated that they had out a battery in my car but that the battery is draining and they don't know why. I asked them in they provide loaners sionce ai have beeen without a car for sevral days. They expolained that they don't have any but I could call Genesis (844-340-9741) and perhaps they could help me faster. I asked why they couldn't call for me and they stated that I may have better success. I called Genesis at that phone number 844-340-9641 and again explained all of the above information. I was given a case number and provided the same day as requested the information that they are asking for. This is a copy of the email (attached) I received after that call. Please note that even in this email they are stating it will be awhile before they

While driving home, I engaged the self-driving feature. The vehicle immediately speeded up, and aggressively veered to the left, causing it to exit the roadway onto the grassy median, where it struck several of the metal rails and plastic pylons. This malfunction resulted in a dangerous loss of control that could have resulted in a far more severe collision. Please note the following details regarding the vehicle and its history: - Ownership: I am the second owner of the vehicle and have owned it for less than one year. The previous owner was a rental car company. - Prior Service History: I have previously taken this vehicle to the dealership on two separate occasions specifically to address concerns regarding the self-driving system pulling to the left. In both instances, I was informed that no issues could be identified. Given that this is a recurring issue that has now resulted in a collision, and my car being totalled by my insurance. I ask that you open a formal investigation into the safety and functionality of the self-driving option for this vehicle. (2024 Genesis G70 Stantard)
The contact owns a 2017 Genesis G90. The contact stated while the vehicle was turned off, locked, and parked in the driveway, he pressed the trunk release button on the key fob to open the trunk while he was standing behind the vehicle. However, the vehicle inadvertently rolled backward independently, and hit the contact, causing him to flip up in the air, and the contact fell down at the curb on the driver's side of the driveway. The vehicle continued to roll down, rolled up the hill of the driveway, rolled back down, and crashed into the wall and mailbox box. The contact stated that bystanders assisted him up. The bystanders also attempted to open the vehicle; however, the vehicle was still locked. The vehicle was not occupied at the time of the failure. The contact sought medical assistance the next day and was informed that he had sustained separation of muscles on the right side of his back. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent a field inspector to inspect the vehicle. The field inspector informed the contact that the EDR would not indicate the cause of the failure as it could not operate while the vehicle was turned off. The manufacturer later contacted the contact and informed him that they could not assist as the EDR did not reveal the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000
Driver side rear door electric latch is stop working and i tried to open the latch manually but the locked latch won't let me but remain locked. I have concerns with the situation because when door latch were broken due to accident, the door would remain locked and passengers would not be able to escape from inside of the car

The contact owns a 2024 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH, the vehicle's gear shifter independently shifted from drive(D) to neutral(N). A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the gear shift selector switch needed to be replaced. The gear shift selector switch was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 6,500
When turning on the car, the right side of the dashboard (digital panel) will not turn on, it will not display rpm, gas or speed. The turn signals are not making the click noise. The issue happens randomly and I haven’t been able to replicate it in the presence of the dealer. Once the dashboard is back on the service engine light will come on and a service code is noted on the diagnostic system. This has been ongoing since the car was brand new, the first instance at 1,200 miles
While driving car, I heard a "pop" sound coming from the back seat, my ICCU had failed and then there was a sudden loss vehicle power and the car went into a limp mode. The car only had 5,650 miles on it. This is a serious safety hazard. The car was towed to the dealership and a new ICCU was installed. The replacement part was the same model number that had failed. I was advised by the service adviser that I could possibly experience another ICCU failure in the future

Auto Start Stop seemed to have malfunction and shut the car off completely. I had to restart the car in traffic to get going. This happened twice, once going to work and once on a weekend trip to New Jersey. The only thing that's preventing an accident is you have to stop for the auto start feature to even activate
Oil pressure light started to come on at idle, goes away while driving.. Heard this has been and issue and even the dealership knows about it.. There is also a recall in Korea for the same exact thing for the same exact cars but no recall in the usa..please make this a recall it is not safe nor should this be over looked
The contact owns a 2022 Genesis G70. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to maintain automotive power while the accelerator pedal was depressed. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the vehicle failed to exceed 45 MPH occasionally and went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was restarted as a temporary fix. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000

Vehicle is currently disabled due to Open Recall Campaign #262/023G (NHTSA Recall Number 24V528000) for High-Pressure Fuel Pump Failure. On 05/19/2026, the vehicle suffered total loss of drive power at highway speeds (Hwy 16/211), creating an immediate hazard. The manufacturer failed to provide a timely remedy, initially misdirecting me to a dealer unable to service the model. Genesis and the local dealer now refuse to provide a courtesy tow to an authorized facility, despite the vehicle being disabled by their own safety defect. The vehicle has been stranded and unrepaired for over a month. This leaves my son at risk, as he must walk along dangerous highways during Extreme Heat Advisories while managing a spinal injury. The impact of being without a reliable, functioning vehicle at this address is not merely an inconvenience—it is a critical safety issue. We reside in a remote area where even emergency responders (EMS) have been unable to locate our entrance when responding to a recent medical emergency involving a hiatal hernia. Being without a vehicle that can reliably transport us or navigate to a main road is not a sustainable or safe position, and by refusing to remedy this recall defect, Genesis is directly contributing to this hazardous environment. I have explained this entire situation with Genesis Escalation without a resolution The safety hazard is compounded by the lack of local transportation. My son has been forced to walk along the shoulder of Highway 16 to ge
Vehicle is experiencing sudden loss of drive power without warning. There is no error code, nor dashboard indicator (check Eng, etc.). It suddenly just loses power - engine still running. This loss of motive-power safety condition is identical to the fuel pump cavitation issue, consistent with the NHTSA recall 23V630000. My VIN is currently not on the recall, but was manufactured exactly in the mid- range of the June - Dec 2021 production, that has had the recall. Built in the August-Sept 2021 timeframe. Currently in the shop for troubleshooting. Can provide repair invoice at a later date. I think this issue is larger than the recall suggests
The high-pressure fuel pump failed, resulting in insufficient fuel delivery to the engine. This caused a significant loss of engine output, with the vehicle unable to accelerate beyond approximately 35 mph or stalling around 60 mph and exhibiting very slow acceleration. The lack of adequate power created unsafe driving conditions. I was nearly rear-ended while making a right turn and again while attempting to merge onto the interstate, as the vehicle could not accelerate as expected. There were no warning lights or prior indications of a problem on the dashboard. The issue first occurred on 2/21/2026, and I immediately stopped driving the vehicle. The vehicle has since been inspected by the Charlotte Genesis dealership, which diagnosed a high-pressure fuel pump failure

One night shortly after I picked up my 2020 genesis g90, I was driving home on a city street when I noticed something wrong with my headlights. As I was driving I was trying to figure out what was wrong with them. I kept thinking that there was an obstruction on the headlights that was causing some darkened areas right in the center of my field of vision. While trying to determine what was causing this, I was momentarily distracted and I brushed up against a curb causing a nasty incidence of 'curb rash' on my front passenger wheel. So my brand-new g90 with less than 100 miles on it was now disfigured. The good news is I can get a brand-new wheel installed for only $1,025! After dropping eighty grand on the g90, this was actually extraordinarily bad news. I called the dealership to see if the headlights needed adjustment. I was informed that "genesis was aware of the problem but there was nothing that can be done about it". I consider this a safety defect since these darkened areas obstruct a clear view of the road at night
Left front headlight accumulates significant amount of water that worsens with rain events. Places water in proximity with LED lamps and wiring creating risk of electrical shorts and lamp failure. This is known issue addressed by a Genesis TSB, but no recall has been initiated despite safety concerns
Component: Exterior Lighting / Headlamps Vehicle: 2021 Genesis GV80 VIN: [XXX] Mileage at Failure: 77,000 Complaint: The front left headlamp on my 2021 Genesis GV80 failed completely after visible moisture and condensation accumulated inside the lamp housing for approximately one week. There was no impact, damage, or tampering. The Genesis service center inspected the vehicle and confirmed the failure was caused by moisture intrusion consistent with Genesis Technical Service Bulletin 23‑BD‑002G (“Information for Lamp Condensation”). This condition is also documented with NHTSA under XXX The failure resulted in a complete loss of headlamp function, creating a significant safety hazard while driving at night. Genesis Customer Care initially informed me that if the dealer confirmed the failure was consistent with the TSB, the repair would be covered under goodwill. After the dealer confirmed the defect, Genesis corporate declined to cover the repair due to the vehicle being out of warranty, despite the failure being caused by a known manufacturer defect affecting visibility and safety. I am filing this complaint because the defect is safety‑related, documented by the manufacturer, and resulted in the loss of primary forward lighting. The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that while pulling into traffic, the vehicle stalled. The accelerator was depressed, but the vehicle failed to move. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was due to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V282000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact contacted AAA, who rest drove the vehicle but eventually towed the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case. The failure mileage was approximately 6,700
The contact owns a 2023 Genesis G80. The contact stated that after fueling the vehicle with gasoline, there was a strong fuel odor inside the vehicle. The failure persisted, and the contact stated that the check engine warning light became illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the failure was caused by the gas cap not being properly secured and closed tightly. The contact was also informed that the fuel tank might be overfilled, causing gas to splash down to the vapor lock, and the contact disputed the claim. Despite the dealer's diagnosis, the contact stated that the failure remained and that the fuel odor was smelled hours after fueling the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 41,700

I went go put gas in the car but as I start driving I was riding lost power of the car I pulled over but it was a school bus behind me that the bust drive had called the police I got out the car I seen smoke from the passionate side of the car seeing smoking. So I step back seen that the motor was on fire then it started busting out the windows and tires. It burnt up the car so bad that they had go get more water. 4/2/26, very hard to start the engine and engine warning light was blinking. Noticed significant amount of fuel leaking on driver side of engine. The vehicle was towed to Genesis dealership. 4/3/26, engine cylinder #4 fuel leaking due to broken o-ring per dealership. Crossover fuel pipe and o-ring were replaced
While driving on the highway, the car shut down with no warning messages and gas fumes filled the interior of the car. I was not able to move over to a completely safe spot on the road because the car shut down so quickly. I was not able to put the windows down as there was no power to the car and unable to exit the car because I was not in a safe spot on the highway. I had to remain in the closed car inhaling the gas fumes. I called 911 and they had me sit in the sheriffs car until a tow truck came to keep me out of the fumes. The car was towed to the dealership, it had 53 miles on it. This event was extremely dangerous. It is currently at the service department of the dealership for repairs

How we count
Every figure here comes from complaints owners filed with NHTSA — 1,100,006 of them, covering 1,982 models built between 1981 and 2026.
A complaint is an unverified report: someone wrote down what happened to their car. It is not a confirmed defect and not a recall. What makes the volume useful is the pattern — when thousands of owners of the same build describe the same failure, that is a signal no marketing brochure will give you.
Two things we do that the source does not. First, we compute the age of the car at the moment of failure from the incident date and the model year. Second, we group complaints by the first 11 characters of the VIN — the production series — so a bad plant run does not disappear into a model-wide average.
